Are They Really Worth It?

I am pretty sure that if I can find someone that will reassure me that it's worth it thatI will soon be buying a modded xbox w/ an X3, Xecuter LCD Kit, Xecuter Pro Switch, and everything like the HD and stuff. My real question is, is it really worth the 460 dollars I'll be paying for it? Or should I just buy a normal Xbox? What can I do with a modded 'Box that I can't with a normal one?

Also, I was just looking at the coming soon and I saw the X3 control panel. Any ideas on when this is coming out and how much it will cost? It looks like it has a few mor features than the lcd kit w/ the pro switch, but what is the real difference between just getting those two things and getting the control panel?

dude with one word i can answer your question YES. a modded xbox really gives you so much more and with an amazing x3 chip in it your gonna love it. as for the control panel well no real word on a release date yet but probably a lil after christmas and it will probably retail somewhere around 60 USD. with your modded xbox you'll have the ability to turn your xbox into a full entertainment system with movies and music stored on it. you can backup your games onto the hdd and even run emulators off the system to play games from other systems.

if your wondering cuz i know i alotta ppl still ask this question
THE XBOX CANNOT RUN PS2 OR GAMECUBE GAMES

The LCD switch depends on your personal usage of your modded xbox. I don't think most people will find a real use for it...but many of us do.

Do it yourself - save about $100 over what you are being charged.

Noob asking: is it safe to update the firmware?

Hi,
Just bought an Arcade Xbox 360 for my little brother (i'm not into these things). Anyhow, there are the details:

* I followed the instructions on xbox-scene to know which CPU I have. Found that I have a Jasper based on Power Port Picture 3.

Power Port Picture3

You have a v4.x (codename: Jasper).
- CPU: 65nm
- GPU: 65nm
- GPU eDRAM: 80nm (v4.0) - 65nm (v4.1)
- PSU: 150Watt/12.1A
- Videochip: HANA

Checked the DVD and found to have Philips-LiteOn DG-16D2S (often called '(old) LiteOn').

Now, the things I did :):

I have a moded xbox 360, don't know any details of this mod and couldn't find a way to figure it out. Anyhow, I want to register for XBOX Live.

Here are the steps (noob stype :)):
* Selected my profile
* Selected Join Xbox LIVE
* It says I must exit my current session (I selected yes)
* Then it says "A system update..etc....Do you want to apply update now?"
* Because I don't to brick or ban my brother's cpu I just selected NO :).

Finally, the questions :):
* Is there a way to find out the kind of mod I have? Does it make any difference if know such info?
* Am I going to be at risk if I accept the system update?

Cheers everyone :)

Re: Noob asking: is it safe to update the firmware?

The only way to check if your brothers console is modded, is to try a backup of a game (The older the game the better, in case its modded with old firmware). If it plays, then its modded. Or check the label underneath the faceplate at the front. If it shows signs of tampering, then chances are it could be modded. Or even check the little holes at the back of the console, to see if the console has been opened. Personally, I'd just go to microsofts xbox site and download the update from there, either download it to a usb stick or burn it to a cd/dvd. Details on how to do this are on xbox.com. After that flash the drive to the newest LT+ firmware.

Re: Noob asking: is it safe to update the firmware?

Thanks typhoon5989

The box is actually moded (I can backup games). Plus, the label underneth the nameplate is actually tempered.

Now, let me get what you are saying correctly. I should not accept the update; rather, I should download the updateto a usb drive...
after this I lost you :)

Why cann't I just accept the update from the net directly?

Anyone would like to give it a shot and answer my inquiry.

Re: Noob asking: is it safe to update the firmware?

LT+ is required for Fable 3 and onwards. Seeing as they decided that the previous protection wasn't good enough... But if it is the Lite On 78450c drive, that is the easiest drive to flash without needing anything other than a Sata cable and a PC.

download update. copy to usb. plug usb into xbox. let the update run. then you can go ahead and flash your drive with the firmware. first update / then flash...

actually, i would update the flash first!

if he has an older version of ixtreme, an update could be a problem

it was thought that ixtreme was detectable in a NXE dash update a while ago

its alwasy best to update the ixtreme to latest firmware or stock, then update dashboard
