ATA HDD cable question

hi just wondering wether the ATA cavble that the new maxtor hdd i bought will make a big difference in loading times for games and progs , i tried to install the cable, but it was to short, and i wasnt able to route it and have the neccesary slack to connect the new hdd, which sucked ass cuz i heard it makes things load alot faster. So I am using the Stock cable the stock hdd came with cuz thats the only long enough. IF possible where can i get on that will actaully fit, my friend was having the same problem with his segate, his cable was to short to. thanks

dont be afraid to hit me up with some rep points and today is the day MADDEN 06 is here to stay go buy your copy now!! :D

It is my understanding that the DVD and the HDD are on a 33Mhz bus. So I don't understand how you could get any faster tranfer rates than the hardware limitations.

Actually because of the ATA-166 IDE cable's design, it does not allow for allot of signal reflection to occur thus speeding it up in that aspect. On another note you will not get any killer speed increases out of it, however it’s a lot better that strapping a rabid beaver to the drive.:D

Ok MM, agreed. Might reduce the signal to noise ratio.:D

basically using a different ATA cable really won't give you a big noticable difference on xbox.

That's not true, because i did try standard xbox cable and loading my Fable Game, first when the game loading microsoft flash green it will pause about 1/2 second then will go on (it not happen when I put ATA 133 Cable in), second when you save or loading game is much faster with ATA 133 Cable.
