I've beens using the AudClamp/Eject alternate jtag points for over 2 or 3 months now , but after i started using a USB HDD for Games n such , the X360 would boot to E79 whenever i restarted it, at first i thought it might be an issue with the USB HDD , so i stopped using it

but now the X360 throws E79 almost 80% of the time

I use QSB with cut wires to Eject, and underside connection for Audclamp

seeing as the x360 was fine for so long i'm at loss what could be causing the sudden surge of E79's ...

Also IF the x360 boots , it's like it was just boot up for the first time , factory defaults and need to go thru them all over again. T_T

any ideas?

that is the sign of a bad config on your nand

Compile a fresh image of freeboot and flash that, see what you get? Also if you already got 9199 dash you might want to try the latest version of freeboot with dash 12611.

thanks for the input :D

turned out to be a booboo on my part : was forcing the nand-x qsb to 0 and i believe if i left it that way it might have fried my jtag

after ripping the X360 open for some diagnostics ... i found what seemd to be causing my problem ...two things :
* during my initial jtag install , i had issues with the QSB J2D2 so i shorted it out to be on the 0 position all the time
* now i know X360's do not like that short point to be 0 lol

after repairing the QSB and setting the short to the 330ohm position all is well again ! :D

on a side note ... Freeboot with Kinect dash is Out ?????

No wonder, position 0 means off :p.

Yes its out. Check the latest versions of Easy Freeboot, Jtag tool and FBbuild tools. They all are posted on news and homebrew pages.

yeah , not the the Off position , the position that uses a direct short instead of Resistors ^^;

after some research i think a direct connection like that can actualy damage a Jtag over time

thanks again manwithoutname , also got Kinect dash up and running :D

i'm having a similar problem, i wanted update to latest dash and tried using my modified 9199 as an original dump. i had to use alt points thou on the new flash and so i tried applying the correct smc fixes.

when i boot i keep getting e79, checked my solder points with a multimeter and seem fine, on the jtag switch theres 0, 330 / 470 and off.

having the switch off should always fail to boot unless the original dump is on the nand which i dont have at all.

but as to the 0, 330 or 470 settings - which should be used when dumping, flashing, trying to boot new modified dash?
