It would be nice if the x3 bios could read the table, and set it to f/g or just f accordingly. Right now you are forced to select one even if you have multiple drives.

YAN (yet another newbie) general jtagging question - safety?

Someone who may or may not know squat told me that some of the jtag plans (ones with resistors but don't they all) can risk frying your XBOX at any time due to voltage spikes and not being the "correct" way to deal with providing current. Does this make any sense? Thanks!

Yup, that seems about right. Not all JTAG wiring has a resistor and if not properly installed it could eventually fry your console.

Thanks. What is the best circuit for jtag then?

Re: YAN (yet another newbie) general jtagging question - saf

Well, a lot of JTAGed system are homemade DIY efforts which may have problems due to poor soldering, poor parts, wrong parts, crappy installation etc. If this is the case the JTAG circuit can be turned off using something like the JTAG Saver.

However, if using something like Team Xecuter's NAND-X or the Maximus 360 NAND Flasher and with a good tutorial this should be no problem.

There are also various versions of the JTAG install you can use to reduce RRoD / increase performance, etc. (different for each console).
