avi movies on cd

i have tried to search for this topic, but didnt find it
i got my xbox yesterday, and tried to watch a movie on it
im only getting " no disc"
i was sure it was only to put the disc in and mediacenter cud play anyting
what?
where?
how?

go into the disc using the file explorer on XBMC and select the .avi to play

also, maybe your dvd drive cant read cd-r...

and dvd rom is empty, but the movie is in

its a new xbox must i unlock it or someting?

Find a samsung online - I can't believe in this instance samsung is best, everything else I have of theirs dies gloriously.

my samsung does not read dv-r's.

or stream the movie over a SAMBA share of the CD Drive in your PC.

Here are a list of some of your options

*buy a drive that can read cd-r's
*burn DVD-R/RW if u can
*FTP the files to your xbox (samba is slow)
*If u really dont want to do any of the above then find the DVD and rip it to your harddrive... but make sure u own it first ^_~

i stream all my movies, music & images and it works great.
i dont get any pauses during playback etc and browsing for the files is like browsing the xbox for me.
