I just pulled a x2 lite out of my box (because it was doing the famous "on-off-on-off" thing. I may of messed up my LPC (not sure) and possibly my ribbon cable (i nicked it with the iron - what an ass) needless to say it will not even boot now. So at this pooint I want to send my box to someone to have an x3 installed (and prepped for the panel when it comes out). I have gotten a few quotes and I could buy a new unit and mod (and install it) myself for the prices I am getting. change slim dvd-drive dg-16 to dg-12?

Yello strangers,

I have a xbox slim with Lite-On DG-16D4S fw 0225. Is it possible to change the (currently) unflashable drive to a better supported one, Lite-On DG-16D2S 74850C?

I have CK3 pro (rev D) and a via 6421-card. If I've understood correctly, it should be possible to read the key from the original drive..

If the changing could be done, would it still be detected and the xbox banned?


Yes I know that I should wait for the 0225 support, but I'm a bit impatient

yes it is possible

just flash lite-on 9xxx firmware ixtreme LT+ to the drive with the key from the xbox

i believe there was a tool on xbox-scene release that allowed keys to be read from the drive

YOU WILL BE BANNED IF YOU DO THIS!

slims can detect drive and firmware type in real time, so if you do this, you WILL be banned, no matter if you play offline or online
