Does anybody know if you play ur back up games on ur xbox 360 modded will ruin or mess the lens faster than using the original ones ? I'm asking this cause i noticed my xbox makes a lot of noice while reading, and also sometimes it makes like a little crick crick noise, somthing pretty weird, has anyone else had this ¨problems¨ too? If it is a problem! thanks!! nice question cause it will make you think about using the back up copies instead of the originals!Ignacio

Do you have a Samsung drive? Mine makes this same noise when it's constantly reading (Fifa 07). It's nothing to worry about, my computer drives have done it before. But I can't actually say backuped wont damage the lens because I just don't know.
Yes i have samsung sm28,the new ones, the xbox was built in Octuber 2006. Thanks if anybody knows!!
sorry about reviving an old thread but i am getting this kind of noise 2 almost like a ticking noise when reading backups on my MS28 anything to be worried about?
personally i think it DOES ruin the lens a little as now i have to keep putting in a dvd lens cleaner disk
i read somewhere that the laser needs to adjust more frequent with bad media then with good media... but does it ruin a laser? i doubt it.
and if you constantly have to use a dvd lens cleaner disk, then your cleaning disk doesn't solve anything... cleaning disk are for dusty old hifi systems with possible dust on the lens.. so let's say once a year use a lens cleanerdisk.
i use the cheapest media and me and my friend his 360 still run good.. no problems or anything. he has samsung, i have hitachi. he has his 360 over 1 1/2 year modded, no lens cleaning disk used...
but i think the dust density in country as the netherlands are ofcourse very low so yeah that might explain why all over the world people have reading problems and i do not

Anyone with a 360 long enough will know that original games burn the laser out faster than backups, so far ive seen an easy 10 non modded 360,s stop reading disks after only a few months old..( same owner) Not all replacments (3 payed for) the other 7 or watever were replacements. Proves the point id say! allso know alot of ppl with modded drives playing backups forever and havent yet had the opentray / dirty disks error / or put this in 360 console.. The biggest fault with the 360 is its a cheap ass laser. But dont sweat it u can replace the laser real cheap and real EASY useing text,s tut.. hope this helps some of u deside to go for it!!
