Backing up entire hard drive

Perhaps someone can point me to a tut or thread.

I have a 500gb hard drive full of games and my "stuff" on my xbox 360. I would like to make a complete backup of my drive in case my hard drive ever dies which I fear is close to happening (7 years old)

It is my understanding that the transfer cable doesn't transfer actual games, is this correct? Even if it did, I would still like to have a complete image or copy of the hard drive contents on my PC.

Is any of this possible?

I think (but not 100% sure) that XBOX 360 Commander lets you create a backup image of a hard drive in .bin format.

I have never used this application, so I couldn't tell you how well it works (if at all).

try any hdd imaging software. Norton Ghost would work for this, and it is an ancient software. I am assuming this is a HDD for a Jtag, since it is 500GB, so you dont have to worry about the HDDSS on the hdd, it is just imaging the data.
