Backing Up Original Xbox for xbox360

can someone tell me the difference between dvd5 and dvd9. i have a samsung drive and flashed it with 5.2C. could my 360 play both or which one could i play

dvd5=single layer disc
dvd9=double layer disc

Xtreme 5.* firmware is supposed to have single layer game support for xbox1 games. But people have been having mixed successes with this. IMO put all you games on double layer discs and as long as you patch the iso correctly you will have no problems.

are there any dvd+rw dl, if so could i burn backups on them to firs see if they work on xbox360 and then burn "hard copy"
