Backup Copies of Games

I have a program called 'dvd2xbox' so that I can rip my xbox games to my xbox hard drive and play them. The problem lies in the fact that my xbox hard drive only allows for about 4 gigs of space to be used for the backups. My question is: Is there a way (a program) to modify the partitions on my xbox? OR I can move the files to my computer with a larger hard drive. Is there a way to play the games from my computer via crossover cable.

If you want to backup games to your HDD you're going to need a bigger HDD...the stock drive won't cut it.

Yes u can do what you are asking
Just FTP in and copy the files to your PC. then with XBMC you can run them from your PC over your network. I watch all my movies and play all my games that way.. I still have my Stock HDD in my box. No reason to get a bigger drive for the xbox. It is no faster to run the game from HDD then it is to run it over the network. when you transfer it over just delete it. Or better yet you can make a ISO of the game with GDFIMAGE and burn it to DVD-R. Either way works.

What are you smoking? That's a ridiculous statement. You don't even run a game over the network...it has to be transfered over. Do the math. A few gb transfering at ~10mb/sec (if you're lucky) is NOT the same speed as playing a game from a HDD...

Just because you're too cheap to buy a new drive doesn't mean it's a sound method. It's time consuming...and you're better off investing in a new drive or a DVD burner to play backups.

I would recommended you buy a new hard drive. Probably a 80 or 120 gb.

Uh.. How fast do you think the DVD drive is ??? Man u do the math.

My games are on my Computer and I just run them from there. How is that time consuming?

XBOX does not have a very fast ATA system in it.

I was offering the guy an option.

And with my setup I can still use XBOX Live!

I can either use a Burnt copy or just run a ISO from my HDD with Daemon tools. The network is faster than the DVD Drive.

I would reccomend a Western Digital 250 gig. You can buy them from Sam's Club (assuming you/your family/a friend has a membership) for $130. There are no rebates to mess with or anything.

The dollar per gig ratio has never been lower.

Even if you don't have a memebership, it only costs like $30 to get one. You would still be getting a great value.

thanks for all the suggestions, I forgot to mention that I am an xbox live subscriber and would still like to use my xbox for that purpose... thus ruling out a new hard drive. I realize that a new hard drive is probably the best option in any other case. Can someone elaborate on XBMC? Would that be on 'xbins'?

it was in the usual place *cough*xbins*cough* but think it's moved to another server, read the message that pops up in the box with your user name, etc on it, it tells u where to go.

As for general info, check out their site:

There's a manual on the xbmc site, or check out their forums, also the forums on xbox-scene.com.

I have checked throughout the forums and asked numerous people about playing xbox games from my pc hard drive, but the only responses that I have gotten are that it is impossible to do. If you are able to do this, please help me. (PHANTONPHREAK HELP ME...) Detailed instructions would be nice.. i.e. configurations... Any help would be appreciated.

Haha...what a douche. To the people who don't know, this is not possible. You can not play a game over the network and can not play on LIVE with a backup! Think about it...when you run a game, it closes ALL FTP/Network connections when it starts up making it impossible to run a game from your computer on your network.
