I have been reading all of the tutorials along with searching the forum but could not find a clear cut answer to this.

My current specs are;

Xbox Version 1.1
Xecuter 3 Chip
Xecuter CP
Stock HD
X3 BIOS Version 3029
Evox Boot CD Version 3935

I have not upgraded my HD yet as I am doing my modification in steps to make sure I understand each step before moving onto the next. I have read the setup and config sticky for setting up Evox in this forum. I am getting ready to install Evox on my C: drive but I wanted to make sure I backed up everything I needed to my PC. In the setup/config sticky thread it talks about copying my HD to PC. My drive is current formatted with the following drives;

C: , F: , E: , W: , X: , Y: , Z:.

I have plenty of space to copy all of them but can anyone give me a list of all the things I need to back up before installing Evox. I have seen conflicting arguements (as an example; if you should back up your eeprom or if you should back up your CACHE ) and I just want to make sure I have everything incase I have to go back.

How are you planning on reformatting the new hard drive?

If you use the X3 then you should backup everything. If you use an autoinstaller like Slayer then you only need to back up the C and E drives. If you have an F drive, which you don't unless you formatted the extra 2 gigs of space on the stock HD, then back that up too.

Lock the new drive with ConfigMagic, backup the eeprom and save the info on your PC.

HI ,
you should use slayers evox to make a eeprom/back up,that should be fine but the one thing ive kicked myself for is not copying my gamesaves i think they are in udata ,well im sure someone will correct me if im wrong but if you have the free space on your pc just all of c drive but like i siad be shure to use evov to back up first after you do this you should see the back up in c drive,
GOOD LUCK

I have not decided to upgrade my hard drive yet as I am unsure if I can do so. I play quite a bit on XBL and I still dont know to much about the "Marriage Theory and/or LPC Theroy" to make the decision if I should. I was thinking about getting the additional 2 GB by reformating my stock drive but I have not made up my mind about that as well.

I have a 180 GB in my PC and I was thinking of just storing my backup's there and then FTP'ing them to my hard drive when I wanted to play. Based on my 3029 BIOS it says I have about 4.6 gigs left that should be plenty to store an .iso. Then I can just delete and transfer a new backup.

If someone sees an error in my idea I am open for sugestions.

Thanks for the help, Floppy. Sent you some rep for the help.

Hey,
If your playing on xbox live now you have 3 options.
1-Replace hard drive and eeprom at same time.
2-Switch back and forth between hard drives keeping stock HD for xbox live and larger hard drive for backup playing. You can keep the case open for easier transfer of IDE and Power cables.
3-Same as 2 but installing a switch to access only 1 HD at a time.
