Backup trouble.

GOW, PGR 3 and FIFA 07 backups work fine, as they always have. However my COD3 and Saints Row backups have suddenly just died. COD3 loads up fine but when I go to the Multiplayer it gets to the loading screen and I get unreadable.

Saints Row was fine when I last used it, it loaded up fine and I played online a few times. Now it wont even load up the main menu, it gets to the church where it loads and then I get unreadable. So I've got two questions to ask:

1. Can using backups make the drive (Samsung) deteriorate over time?
2. Can backups just stop working? Any there any things I should consider doing.

All backups are on the same media.

If you use sh*tty media, it can cause your laser to strain more, probably reducing its lifespan.

Since the media we use is made with dye, it has a certain lifespan. The sh*ttier the media, the quicker the dye degrades and will not work as well. This may be the issue.

What media are you using?

RICOHJPN-D00-01 that is the dye used with my Infinti media.
Just in case, do you know were I can a find a laser replacement tutorial, or would it just be easier to replace the drive all together?

Whereabouts? Are these lasers ready to go, I mean do they need tweaking of any sort? And how do they match up with the original laser?

Infinit media ? Sounds like garbage. Use Verbatim, it's worth the extra money.

ive brought some h/p double lair from www.svp.co.uk these disc's work flawlessly burnt with a pioneer 109 firmware 1.58 using clone cd, at a pound a disc a bargain runing on hitachi 47 drive those richo disc's totaly stopped working in my drive ie crap disc's
