I have tried XBCr and Schtrom v3.1 to backup Gears, Project 8, and Dead Rising but all gave me the same error. It is basically not reading the security sector. I don't understand why this is happening because I made and image of Saints Row last week before I got these other games and my drive read it fine, I also made an image of Gears but I tried to burn it and it was not recognized by my x360. Is there something I can do to fix this?

i was having the exact same issue...make sure your sh-d162c is the master drive. then burn with imgburn.....no problems now. make sure you have the jumpers right on the drives...master for sh-d1... and slave for 111d.....if you have more ata (more than 2) available on your board put both as master

The Kreon drives are very picky, the discs must be emaculate for the drive to read them properly. Try cleaning your disc.

I had the same problem last night with 2 different games, one of which I had just just bought and unwrapped. The new DVD was flawless but it would lock up at 3.x% on the security sector. I rebooted a couple times, reseated all my power and IDE cables, then finally when that didn't work I shut the computer off for a few minutes and pulled the plug from the power supply. When I got booted it back up I was able to successfully backup both games. Weird.

Going along this line, I have a question. I just bought a Kreon drive this past week. I was thinking of buying an external enclosure for it, therefore making it a USB connection instead of the traditional IDE connection. Would this be a bad idea? I'm curious if I should simply have the Kreon in an IDE situation versus USB. i know this may sound like a really dumb question, but I'd rather seek out opinions that just assume one way or another.

Thats exactly what I'm doing right now, I have a laptop so when I got my Pioneer 111D I had to get an external enclosure in order to use it, and not that I got my Kreon drive just hours ago, I use the same enclosure for it also, so far so good, but I'll know fr sure in a few minutes when my first backup finishes burning.

Just make sure you use a USB 2.0 port.

Hmmm. Uusually, when I get this error, I just tell XBox Backup Creator to "unlock" the Kreon drive and it works perfectly.
