backup wont load!!!

Thanks for reading. I tried to flash my chip with the latest x3 bios but it stopped and so i shut off te box (no, it stopped for like 15 minutes) Afterwords, I thought no big deal ill just load up the backup... Well, the backup doesnt work, it just kind of bnoots up with no video or sound and the light eventually turns green (shouldn't the backup be flashbios also?) anyways I have a 1.6b and was able to find a flashbios (by selecting switches 1 and 3) that hadn'e been used yet so I flashed an x2 bios to it and it worked fine. Everytime I would try to use flashbios to flash another bank it would just put the letter p under the status and nothing woul.d happen. Can anybody tell me how I can get my flashbios back? Why is my backup not working? Is there something I can use eventually (like evox) o reflash my bios through an xbe?

Another one...
FlashBIOS 3.0.1 does not work on Xbox 1.6b which is what the backup bios is.
As I mentioned to the other person who just posted...
Steps to people with 1.6b.

1. Boot up on bank 5-8 off on off off off...
2. Once booted, change to on on off off (banks 1-4) and flash to that.
That way when things screw up, you still have FlashBios 3.0.3 on bank 5-8 to go back to.
3. Once X3CL is on, reflash backup bios with FlashBIOS 3.0.3

recommend you use v3.01 for v1.6 - this tutorial is exactly the same for that version.

I tried...

I tried switching to that bank but it frags. I did manage to flash an x2 bios to one of my 512 banks (switches 1 and 3) and it says rox my box and when it first starts it says loading x2 config live and then the it loads the msdash. This is the only thing i can get to work. I tried all other combos and banks last night. I tried to buy some sony cd-rw's and some memorex cd-rw's and used the same instruction for putting a bios on a disk only i put evoxdash.xbe (renamed to default.xbe) and the ini and a 100 mb dummy file. It just says please insert xbox disk yadayada and it says that on both disks so i dont know where i should go from here

Did you reboot the xbox with your evoxdash boot disk in the drive?

What version X2 bios did you use?

Well, I fixed it! Thanks for replying... Anyways, I'm no n00b when it comes to modding, but i've never used a chip before. Found out the first reason why it didn't flash is because I tried to flash it on a 512 bank instead a 1mb (oops) and if you read everything you found out that the only bank i did have was a 256 on the second half of the flash and I couldn't load my cromwell beckup 3.01 because my box is a 1.6b so i need 3.03. Anyways, I also said that I flashed that 512 bank with an x2 bios and everything worked but still can't put a dash on it...

Reason being is because I remember the xbox bios will try to only read an xiso (especially from the xboxdash.xbe) so I reburned the cd, this time with all the files an an xiso and walla evox boots up. so I started searching and found x3 flash (you guys didn't even mention this) and as soon as it loaded I switched to the first 1mb bank (I did a lot of research on the banks and found out how to use them) and it worked! Said it was successful, so I rebooted the box on that bank and sure enough the x3 config screen came up. I then proceeded to flash the second half of my bios with that so now I have 2 working x3 bios and them updated my backup flash to cromwell 3.03 and you better believe I turned on that flash protection . Maybe this helps anyone ywho was in the same situation as me...

i do have a question...i have the x3ce chip im my 1.6 box 200gig hdd i have the 3249 bios ..dont quote me on that since im at work and not infront of my box but why would you need more than one bios for the box..i have the the bios for the x3 chip on bank one (on on off off - proswitch) Are the bios specific to certain dashboards...just currious ...i am running unleashx as my dashboard...so just wanted to know incase i want to run another dash...

Nope the bios you have will run all the apps that you will need. You can put the same bios on your other bank as another form of "backup" or you can put a cromwell bios on there for using linux, or you could put a debug bios and start programming your own xbox games or whetever.... I'd venture to say that the majority of users have no real need for the second bank but it is a nice option to have handy.

hmmmm.. i havent done it in years..but i used to be very very good at programming in VB ..i see you said that you could get a debug bios...would that bios allow you to program your own games..hmm...not quite following using what format for programming...is there anything out there that will allow you to view source code for a game..or am i way off the mark on how they develop games for this thing..never really dove into the programming side of the xbox...heck with vb ..write the code compile it and off it goes...just need a tool to view the source code and just edit the code...i would love to do some research on the ability to write my own game...The other question i have is that does the mod chip allow you the ability to use hmmm lets say cheat codes...not that i would need or want any ...its kinda like having a 69 Mark 1 Mustang with a 427 Copajet engine in it and never taking it past 65. If the mod chip has features that the average modder will never use i want to know what they are and then learn. I am currently reading up on the eepromm i want to find out just what it is and its purpose. then on to the xbox motherboard. Ever since i modded my box i cant get enough information on it...there is so much to learn.. anybody got any ideas about what there gona use the LCD screen for. I know right now its just a bells and whistle kinda thing..but it would be cool if it would display the name of the game that playing ..hmmma possible patch program....i have one and would love to see it used more
