OK guys 1st off although I'm new to this forum I am not new to modding with my 1st ever mods done to PS1s way back in the day, I have now done several RGH Coolrunner mods without problem but the latest one has proved a pain in the ass. I am getting a single bad block when reading the nand, D3 to be exact! and when I write the ecc to get my CD key the XB won't boot xell.

I have searched and tried many of the solutions given by members but had no luck using both hand healer and nandpro! so before I totally give up on this console and move on I was wondering if anyone could supply an idiot proof method or better still be kind enough to create a working xell from my original nand which I could supply?

The XB in question is a Trinity Slim, the Coolrunner has the right lights and seems to be glitching ok (also replaced with another in case)
My soldering seems spot on and I have never had problems on past ones but I have belled out and double checked.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance Col

Hi - D3 is nowhere near XeLL, so shouldn't affect what you're doing.

As with most posts, can you include pics of your wiring and confirm what happens with the retail NAND and CR in NOR mode.

no luck when I sw to Phat, I hate giving up on something but after several easy installs mostly on slims this fecker is doing my nut in and I have a mates waiting here to be done!

So I think best short term solution is to get a mate to give it the once over see if he spots something I've missed, a fresh pair of eyes and all that and he done dozens now with no probs.

Anyhow big thanks for the help guys and wowzer at the fast replies they much appreciated. Hopefully it will get sorted eventually and ill let you know what was the cause.

OMG the weirdest fix ever after trawling the forums and trying absolutely everything! I unwrapped my blue wire a little less tight and hey presto a quick boot every time to Xell yey \o/

Big thanks again guys and especcially MARTIN C it was one of his posts that suggested this. keep up the good work.

Cool! That's annoyed me now though, as I should have looked closer at your pic :(

A too-tight loop causes it's own inductance, which is why we use a serpentine form on the timing QSBs.

Glad I helped in a passive way though :D
