I installed my X3 a few days ago and everything was working fine. Then today I powered it up and was getting ready to play a little HALO and the panel LEDS went out. I searched this site for some answers and checked all my solder points and all were good. I put everything back together and powered up the box and still no LEDS and I got red/green flashing. So I checked everything again and took a look at the chip and as it turns out one of the resisters burned up. I still get all LEDS on, on the chip but the box just won't do anything, so I'm guessing the chip is toast, unfortunately. I just don't understand how it can all be fine and then the chip just burns up, I just thought that these chips were better quality then this. Can any one point me in any direction as to what might have happened and if there is anything that I can do about getting another chip, besides the obvious, buying another chip. If it comes down to it I will but I would hope that they last more then a few days, money doesn't grow on trees as we all know.:(

Hate to tell you this, but it is not the chip.

It is a soldering issue, and even though you checked them all and they are 'Fine', there are a million threads just like this.

Solder joints that are not the best come loose when the XBOX warms up. You might have also had something in your box short out against the case.

Buying a new chip would probably not fix your problem.

Just look over your solder joints again and touch them up as needed.

Good luck.
