Hi everyone -

I'm having weird problems with my recent X3 CE install.
I've got a 1.6 xbox.

I did a solder install, loaded it up fine the first time and tried to flash the bios using X3_3294_v16plus.bin from xbins, using HTTP.

I got a "Programming Failed" message, so I tried again. This time, it said "Erasing failed" - but when I rebooted, it went to the Xecuter bios- showed 3294 as teh version, and I was able to fiddle around with the settings etc.

This is with the switches set to OFF-ON-OFF-OFF-OFF. I played with the xecuter bios for about an hour, hour and a half.
I didn't change anything, aside from enabling DHCP, but I could not get my FTP program to find the Xbox, nor could I ping it.

Then, I rebooted the xbox - and now I can't get back into that xecuter bios screen.

I was getting the "Xecuter Rox my Box" message, but then it would go to the standard MS dashboard and start asking for time/date info.

So, I tried booting it set to ON-ON-OFF-OFF-OFF, and tried flashing the bios again (using HTTP again) - I got "Erase failed" again, and now I can only boot to Flashbios using Power-Eject.

Both OFF-ON-OFF-OFF-OFF, and ON-ON-OFF-OFF-OFF gets me flashing red/green light on the xbox.

the only thing I can get it to do is load to Flashbios 3.0.1 using power-eject now.

What should I do next?

Thanks!!

I'm not sure...

there's nothing written on my vid chip but it has the 1.6 kernal (or at least it did, back when I could get to the MS dashboard LOL)

thanks for the quick response!

scratch that, it's a 1.6 - turned my light off and could read the xbox on the vid chip.

so there's no way to fix it? and I thought you can't overwrite the backup FlashBios anyway?

and why did I use xbins if their files aren't good? I thought they were the source?

your been misslead here
if you have flashbios on backup (power eject at same time) try reflashing chip with x3 bios from xbins with switch setting ON ON OFF OFF OFF
x3 3294 v1.0 to v1.5 xboxs
x3 3294 v16 plus v1.6 v1.6b xboxs
if that dont work keep getting frag then it your install recheck your soldering

ok, so with switches ON-ON-OFF-OFF-OFF
press power-eject
then flash over network
using xbins x3 3294 v16plus.bin (I have a 1.6)

and if still fragging then check solder?

thanks for the help!

Got another Programming Failed! after what looked like a solid flash.

I just got this again from xbins, the x3 3294 v16plus.bin

Solder issue then?

?????

And now it's rebooted to 'Xecuter Rox My Box" and loaded the bios.

puzzling.

Ok, now I'm able to connect to the xbox via FTP.

I'm fairly confused, since I had already tried most of that once (aside from re-downloading the Bios from xbins.)

So thanks for the help on that, DJBOOBY!

One last question - should I wait for my AID 3.0 and 3.0.3 updaters to get done torrenting, or can I install apps now? (I want to use XBMC now, if possible - to watch some UK shows I dl'ed earlier, and it's going to take me another few hours to get the AID torrent done.)

or do you recommend I just wait until I have the AID 3.0.3 ready?

Thanks again!

awesome.

I'll just wait until the morning then, when my torrent is done.

Thanks for the advice and assistance!

Argh.

Booted up fine this morning, going to the xecutor Bios - I connected via FlashFXP and copied all the files from the xbox to my PC's hard drive, then shut down FlashFXP on the PC.

I then rebooted the xbox with the freshly-burned AID disc in the samsung (I followed the AID video tutorial to compile the update and then the AID manual to burn the iso)

it freezes at "Xecuter Rox my Box" with either a DVD+R or a DVD-R in... and now I can't get it to boot to the Xecuter Bios with no disc in - it goes to the MS dashboard!

What next?

Thanks!

DJBOOBY - You are the man!

I got it working, following those hints. And now I have XBMC installed, as well as DVDtoXbox.

Your AID software is amazing, thanks for building that! :D

I need to figure out how to install the emulators (for old-school consoles etc) but I imagine that's fairly easy now that I have the crucial parts going.

Once again, thanks for all the help!

Time to go watch France v Italy on tivo.. and then it's more xbox time!

XBMC doesn't seem to want to see the emulators, does fine with everything else, but after running AID's 'install emulator', chose the E drive, and then installed a couple individual emulators (NES, Genesis, C64, Apple II).

AID says "FINISHED!" without seeming to do anything after I select each of the emulators, and then I can't find any of them inside my emulators folder on E from within XBMC. (Using "Programs" and also looking in "My Files")

Any ideas?
