ok so my dad was gonna help me out and do the last solder point I needed to do on my 360 the green wire on the RGH hack. well now there are 2 resistors missing and the wire still won't stick to the board so my question is can I put regular resistors on those points or do I need or find some SMD resistors? also is there another solder point for this green wire or do I still need to try and get that point?

You probably need to stop as by the sounds of things, this is completely out of your league.

Get this to someone to repair ASAP unless you don't mind destroying a working console.

If you can't solder a wire to a small point on the board without removing a couple of resistors, then forget about replacing the components which are missing.

Sorry UTMAD - I've deleted your reply for the sanity of others and the health of the guy's console.

Yes, there are alternate points but they're harder to use than what you've already tried to solder to. Right now, your console is more than likely recoverable however if you damage the ALT points it'll be fit for the bin.

The alternate point is under the cpu right?

Yep - if you can't solder to CPU_PLL_BYPASS, you have no hope in soldering to this.

Oh sorry Martin I repsosted as I thought I had screwed something up please feel free to delete if you think appropriate
Cheers - done.

I had a customer with almost the same problem, he lifted the pad, but not the smd resistors around it. I scraped the alternate point then soldered it on there. This guy shouldn't try the alternate point as its as hard if not harder than the original

I can solder fine, I was leaving it until I bought a smaller tipped soldering iron, in which my dad said he had and would do it. so could someone please not be a smart azz and just answer the question at hand to replace the componets do i need to find SMD or can I use what I have on hand

If your willing to potentially mess up a xbox, you need to replace those resistors and solder to the alternate point.

I beleive this is the resistor http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-pcs-SMD...206?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c21aa1df6

If it's the resistor off CPU_PLL_BYPASS, this is wrong. This resistor is for STBY_CLK.

Like I asked, pics please. Nobody knows what resistors you've managed to remove.

Sorry, I have all my points mixed up atm, Thats what no sleep does to you

Closed - OP, PM me when you have a pic of the area as asked.

EDIT: feck it. Re-opened.

Despite my best efforts to try and save what chance your console has of actually working, others are hell-bent on spooning you images to wreck it completely.

The links for alt points are on the RGH/Coolrunner forums which you are able to access.

Just don't bother posting back here after you've royally messed it up, as nobody will have the time of day for you.

This is how you should do it with out messing everything up:

1. Get a good solderstation, because with a solderstation you can set the temp of the solder iron I use 280 celcius for everything. Dont forget to pre-tin the tip of your iron.

2. Buy some good soldertin with flux in its core, don't buy lead-free because 'leadfree soldertin is just crap. Go to an electronicshop and ask them for S-Sn60Pb40 Soldertin (you don't have to buy flux, it's already in the core of the tin).

3. Pretin your wires, add some tin on the pad. Now just connect the wire to the pad, touch it for one second with the tip of your solderiron and thats it.

I had a pointed tip on my solderingstation until a friend gave me a flattened one. Have been using it ever since. It's much more easier to solder with.
Get a flattened solderpoint is my 5 cents!
Its not called a solder point, And Im guessing your talking about a chisel tip for your iron
