hey all, this is my first go at soldering anything ever so take it easy on me please :D keep in mind i don't really care if i screw the box up, i kinda just wanted to see if i could do it lol :D

alright, so f* qsbs. I don't wanna use em anymore. I'm pretty sure i made good connections on the back of the motherboard on the 3 small points for the coolrunner install, but the damn qsbs are giving me all kinds of trouble

any advice on how to desolder that so i can just do a wire install? solder braid? i also wanna desolder the 3v3 wire and the stby clk wire from the coolrunner qsb and do wire install on those. any tips on desoldering those from the qsb?

heres a few pics of the points i soldered onto the back of the mobo. these look good i think?

oh yeah, one other question. should I cut the cables that are used for the pin header install or the ones with the nand x plugs to do the wire install?

thanks to anyone who took the time to look at these and reply!

Nowhere
you will need flux and solder braid to remove the solder.

For the wire install cut the pinheader cables They are available seperately now if you need any more later.

The QSB has way too much solder it looks like you've bridged the points. Clean up the solder and as you get to the point where you have very little solder left (almost none) I would try to reconnect the qsb.

When you install the qsbs you generally need to lightly tin the qsb and the point to which it connects then just apply heat to get the two tinned points to connect. It looks like you added solder unto the qsb when it was in place and you definitely added too much and bridged the points.

Thread closed.

There are plenty of soldering videos, guides and tutorials out there which can be looked at or paid for. Whilst we help people with their QSB installs (far more than we should IMHO), we are NOT a soldering help forum or a forum for electronics. We are also not here to teach you how to solder.

You are welcome to come back and post for help once you've learned how to solder if you're having problems, but bear in mind that you may have already damaged the circuitry trying to learn.

We expect our customers to know how to solder at a good level before purchasing something which needs soldering.
