I have either a v1.2 or a v1.3 xbox, not sure exactly, and just modded it with a 2.6CE chip. It worked fine for about 10 mins then locked up whilst loading san andreas. When i rebooted i got a black screen with sound, this was the same despite weather the chip was enabled or not. So thinking that it could be the bios i reflashed both in the xbox and then through a programer with no success. So i then uninstalled the chip and checked for any damage or solder splatterand there was none, switched it on and i still get sound and no picture.

I dont think the motherboard is damaged because while the chip was in i could still get the flashing menu on screen when i switched to bank B.

The same thing happened to my old xbox when i played san andreas. could it be possible for games to cause this problem.

So with the chip off, you get sound and no video, and that happens in bank 1, but bank 2 gives you flashbios? You didn't flash the TSOP on the Xbox motherboard unless you did a softmod.

It sounds like the problem may be with your switches. Big_Whoopin created a great tutorial to check the switches. Follow that and see what you come up with.

Remove the pinheader or wire connector. Your goal should be to get the Xbox working as a stock box, and then go from there.

Baffled - ME TOO

I am having the same issue. I was able to run FTP and copy nearly 70 GB of data to it, but now the Xbox locks up after just a short amount of time. I have tried multiple chips, checked my solder points and updated the BIOS. Nothing seems to work. Worst of all my nephew is growing restless and I had to let him borrow my Xbox....damn kids!!!

Any ideas? Could it be as previously suggested..bad video?

You probably damaged a trace somewhere, or have a solder splash. Look over the board very carefully, get a magnifying glass if you need to.

Bercilak, your problem is different make a new thread and don't hijack this one.
