Hi I'm new here, just got my chip installed bios flashed everything is running perfect. I have a question about the bank selection though. I've been trying to read up on it but I'm just so confused as to what it does and how it should be set. When the bios were flashed all the switches were to the left and they still are. If I move them around at all the xbox goes into the error thing where the light flashes. Is there any big benefits to having all the banks work properly and should I change them up at all or what. I'm really confused about the different banks. If anyone can help me out and put it in to a computer idiots term that would be great. Thanks for the help.

So as you see the x3 has a total of 2mb of flashable space on it. You flashed your chip with all the switches to the left, you only really flashed the first 1mb slot of the 2mb (banks 1-4). So you have 1mb of space left to flash, it can be a size of 256k, 512k or 1mb. What it means is that you can flash and run more than one bios on the x3 (of course not at the same time).

Basically, depending on the Bios size you have you can use banks to store them.
For example on the X3 with 1MB bios, you can use two banks:
1MB Bank
Bank 1234: on on off off (Set to this when flashing first time with FlashBIOS)
Bank 5678: off on off off

One is like a backup in case you screw up the other one...
Once you have loaded the right Bios in the 1st bank, you shouldn't have to worry about it, as long as it works. Always get the latest bios for your chip and consol version.

It scared me also at the begining, but the more you read and try, the more you understand.

Ok, cool, so basically I can go and put the switches in that certain config and flash the bios again and have it as a back up. I probably won't do anything til the new bios come out anyways. Thanks for the help. This chip is awesome. Too much sh*t to learn though. Thanks again for the help
