OK I have a friend... That wanted to play backup of his Madden 12. So thinking that madden needed a DB update I flashed the MS28 back to stock and gave it an internet connection. I usually test the connection to XBL and let it tel me that there is an update and let it update. That did not work with his, it said it was banned. So I downloaded the newest update 13599 from M$, burned it to a cd, updated and flashed it back to LT+ 1.9. It played Originals, and back up of madden but not COD BO. I repatched and reburned BO and it still would not play. He was fine with that. Then Gears of War 3 came out and He bought that and it will not play it gives a dirty disk error.

Did I miss something that says AP2.5/6 or XGD3 will not play on banned consoles? Even though the MS28 does not have AP checks.

I will add that the first time I worked on his console the drive was spoofed as just a DVD-ROM. I read the key and loaded the MS28 FW on the drive and it worked for LT 1.1. I do not know if it was banned back then or now. XVal shows it as not being banned at all. Go figure.

Can someone shed some light on this problem?

TIA

i flash lots of drives and was bamboozled by the fact a great many sammys would not play ap2.5 despite the fact sammys are not supposed to even check for ap2.5. anyway long story short after much brain searching i realised that a lot of the systems at the time of sammys actually had a blank osig in the nand and those were the ones that would not play ap2.5 so my guess was that if the update for ap2.5 finds a blank osig it will ask for the ap2.5 responses which obviously the sammy drives will not be able to supply. an easy way to test this is to put any other type drive in the xbox with the correct key but the osig the same and not spoofed to sammy ie. if its a benq leave it as benq. if it works then its one of those systems and the only way to get them to play ap2.5 was to actually swap the drive for an ap2.5 capable drive which was fne and doesnt mean you will get banned because the osig is blank so they dont actually know what type drive is supposed to be in there.

not sure this would be the same with xgd3 tho as im not sure how that works yet. did you try flashingh the latest sammy stock fw from after the update back to the drive?

Oh I have not heard of that osig blank. I did try with the a spoofed LO and got a 1 RROD. Right now it has the stock MS28 and will not play GoW3. I will try the LO as LO with the key and report back. Maybe that's how it was able to play orig, and burned with FW as DVD-ROM. Stay tuned.

Yes i used to notice quite a few blank osigs in nands i had dumped when i was doing jtags for folks they alwayd seemed to be in systems with a sammy, not sure why, unless it was a a time they were transitioning between drives so they left the osig blank. Really not sure tho
