Basic Bios Question

This is my first go at a full mod chip install and I am using the 2.6 with the xapt3r on a v1.6. I have the blue flashbios 3.0.1 screen and I am able to navigate through the menu but I am unsure of how to flash it for the first time. I would like to do it via the DVD drive and disc method if I DL the recommened [font=verdana, arial, helvetica]x2 5035 from xbins will that work right away or do I need to use the download from the xecuter site first?

and i got through everything successfully including the flash but when i powered the box back on it just went to that blue screen again. Not sure what to do now

Completely and totally wrong. IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE RIGHT INFORMATION, DON'T POST!!!!!!!!! 5035 will work just fine. There are two files in there, one says vOld, the other says v16Plus. Use the one that says v16Plus for a 1.6/1.6b. M8 is complete junk. 5035 is already 512k, so all you have to do is make a disc and flash. You probably booted from bank 2 when you flashed, but Flashbios will always flash the first 512k to bank 1, so try flipping the switch and see what happens.

ok i got the 5035 bios and used the v16plus. followed the directions on how to build the bios boot disc from xecuter and the bios loaded appropriately but when i turned it on the xbox flubber came on but went right to a distorted error screen. I shut off the xbox a couple of more times and then it wouldn't start off of the first bank again. I started off the second bank returning to the blue flash bios 3.0.3 screen and tried to reflash the xecuter default bios back to the first bank with no luck. It just tries to start and the ring flashes red to green. What is going on? Should I try to reburn the 5035 bios on different media? Is the first bank shot?

try flashing over the network. That's how I flashed mine, and it worked like a damned charm.

Were you able to see an error number in the error screen?

What do you mean it tries to start? Is this after flashing the bios?

there was an error number but the screen was very distorted. It does power on but nothing comes on the first bank the ring just flashes red and green w/ a black screen. yes this is after flashing the 5035 bios via disc. The second bank still boots to the flashbios 3.0.3 screen. Should I be able to load slayers from this screen? cuz i have used it on softmodded boxes in the past. thx for your responses to date esp fantmx.

No, you can't run slayer's from flashbios. Sounds like you may have flashed the wrong version of that bios. Try booting to bank 2 and flashing 5035 again, is possible via HTTP. Don't worry, if the 5035 file is only 512k, which it should be, it will only flash bank 1, leaving bank 2 alone. Flashbios doesn't care what bank you booted from or what bank you have selected, it always flashes the first 512k to bank 1.

ok i did as you recommended via http and it flashed>went to a configuring xecuter live screen>xbox flubber>error 13 fragged screen. arghh!!

i got it...i had to reconnect the original hd and then i used the slayers disc. thx for your help!
