I would just use the battery pack as it is or get rechargable AAs.

Just cut a long the the side of the pack but be carefull not to cut to deep or you'll damage the pack inside. Just use the top halve of the clear pack and glue it to the bottom halve of the battery pack.

It should be easy enough, I just could not be bothered to do it. I just use a white Venom pack. Afterall nobody sees the battery pack while it charges or while your using the controller.

Do you want to put a rechargeable battery unit into a different casing or the other way around? I'm betting that wouldn't end well. I had a similar dilemma when I considered which batteries to use on my Pre-ordered Halo 4 controllers, with their transparent design. I settled for buying some standard Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable AAs to use with the standard battery pack

Repoman, he wants to put rechargable battery "guts" in the clear battery case he got with his clear controller case.

Martin, I'm guessing you've opened one before... :D

I though it would be a lipo pack like mobile/PSP batteries.

Yep - once they stop charging I crack em open and then charge them in a proper battery recharger.

Thanks to you guys (Martin & Steve) I now HAVE to open one of my old packs to see what batteries I've got....

I'll compare a M$ pack and a Venom pack.

EDIT: Can't find my old M$ pack but the Venom is the same generic pack like garageinc's pack.

as this is what you get inside one i'd just go with 4 rechargable batteries. probably better quality than the microsoft junk anyway.
To be fair, I think the 360 rechargeable battery packs are fairly decent quality, much better than I'd expect anyway. I've had my two current charge packs since my first Xenon 360 I bought retail back in '07. They still last a good 10 hours on one charge, which is more than I play per day anyway...

still cheaper and better quality to use rechargable batteries in the standard battery pack. you can buy a good quality rechargable batteries pack and charge station for £15 and have double the battery life for the same cost. your basically paying for a charging cable and sh*tty plug on exactly that anyway but 2 less batteries if you buy the microsoft ones.

thanks for all the feedback and replies, i wanted to do this just so it was uniform and so that I could still use my charging dock to charge the batteries. Not worried about length of life to much seeing as I have three controllers I cycle

edit: so i noticed with rechargeable AA batteries if i plug it into my charge station it appears that it charges them does it actually?

You mean you put rechargeable batteries in the Xbox 360 battery pack and plugged the pack into a 360 battery charger? I'd suggest you don't do that, batteries tend to be picky about brand etc when it comes to chargers. You could shorten the life of the battery or do damage to the charger or something. That said I'm no battery expert
