Johnny Mainstream would like you to believe that games like Battlefield 3 are good for brainless destruction and brainless destruction alone - but time and time again, Cedric Youtube Celebrity proves Johnny Mainstream wrong, by abusing innocent bits of military hardware in creative and entertaining ways. The game's End Game DLC pack went live on Xbox 360 last week, adding the usual assortment of maps, modes and vehicles. Very much the pick of that particular litter is the Dirtbike. In boring, pragmatic terms, it's a rapid-transit infantry vehicle which lends itself nicely to flanking actions and off-road shortcuts. Apply a little imagination, however - or alternatively, C4 - and the bike's capable of rather more. Here's a round-up of the most memorable stunts, together with a few other recent comedy snippets.
1. Space bikers
When you need to get somewhere in a hurry, have a friend lay down a nice bouncy mat of plastic explosives. The next challenge, clearly, is letting go of the handles to seize the undercarriage of a passing helicopter.
2. Battlefield 3 meets Top Gear
Once upon a time, the gentlemen of Top Gear made a show about tanks. Some enterprising DICE fan then appropriated the audio and wrapped it around some skilfully edited in-game footage.
3. Battlefield 3 Death Race 2
Danny Trejo would be proud of this helter-skelter Hollywood-inspired blast through icy terrain, which puts me in mind of PS3 series Motorstorm.
4. Anti-tank rampage
If you find it impossible to drive a tank 100 metres without somebody nipping out of cover to pack the treads with C4, you might want to stay away from End Game. The phrase "wham bam, thank you ma'am" seems appropriate.
5. Helicopter Magnum kill
Remember that bit in Private Ryan when Tom Hanks thinks he's blown up a tank with a pistol? This guy isn't Tom Hanks, but he does have a bigger gun.
6. Helicopter in da haus
See, a helicopter does have an in-doors voice. And what's this, a Battlefield 2143 tease?
7. Tony Hawk: EOD robot
This is how low the Hawkman's sunk - he's being outclassed by remotely operated bomb disposal units. Check out that grind.
8. Jet Rolling
Professional-grade trolling from a jealous flyboy, who's more than happy to exploit the fact that pilots are permitted to travel outside their team's combat perimeter.
9. EOD bot Golf
Another robot video, to see us out. Now this is an offshoot of golf I can get behind. (You certainly wouldn't want to stand in front of it.)
