EA and DICE's Battlefield 4 Battlelog trailer has rocked up ahead of time, care of naughty internet people. Watch it below. Can't stand the excitement? Here's a comparatively sedate textual breakdown. The next generation of Battlelog is optimised for tablets and smartphones, after the example of many a forward-looking online platform. You'll be able to configure a character loadout using a phone or tablet while away from your console, choose a server, and have the whole thing pop up as desired once you switch on the console or PC. Tablets can also be used as minimaps, letting you set objectives for comrades using a touchscreen, and there's a new competitive feature which allows players to create and share in-game challenges (e.g. "royally chuff up 2000 tanks"). Finally, there's the option to have your location appear on a world map when using the leaderboards, so players can socialise and/or hunt each other down without unnecessary expense/searching.

What do you think? Tickled? EA thinks Battlefield 4 is well-positioned versus both its rivals and Battlefield 3, which is still going strong thanks to Battlefield Premium and associated digital content strategies. Read up on the campaign here.
