Battlefield 4's multiplayer to be "deepest, most rewarding, and fun experience"

The fight for the crown of best modern multiplayer wages on, with one of the key fronts being that of multiplayer, and DICE has been explaining how it intends to make Battlefield 4 the victor in the form of how team play will be improved for the newest game in the series. In a post on the Battlefield Blog, Lead Multiplayer Designer Thomas Andersson describes how features such as Field Upgrades, Commander Mode and "a new range of gadgets specifically designed to expand co-operation in the field" will all benefit the outfit that chooses to work together as a team. All four kits from Battlefield 3 make a return, but Andersson admits that he thinks "only a fraction of our players have tried all available gadgets or vehicles in multiplayer" - so they intend to fix that by making things more clear about what different weapons and gadgets can do, and how they compare with each other.

Also revealed in the post are Field Upgrades - these are described as a set of "chained boosts" which can be used to buff your soldier similar to the specialisations in Battlefield 3 in ways such as providing stronger armour or allowing you to carry more ammunition. But rather than just picking one single path, you'll have multiple routes to go down with four specialisations for each of them.
Thomas also goes into how the much touted Levolution mechanic will affect gameplay, using the example of the skyscraper from the E3 demo. On that map, the capture point will begin on the top of the skyscraper, which makes it an excellent vantage point for pilots and snipers. However, if and when the building collapses, the capture point ends up in a mess of broken rubble and ruins, becoming terrain more suited to those who prefer close-quarters combat, with clouds of dust making it hard to see.

In theory all these elements will come together to make Battlefield 4 potentially the most dynamic multiplayer portion of the series so far. Are you convinced, or will stick to being a lone wolf when Battlefield 4 launches for Xbox One and Xbox 360 later this year?
