Hey guys I have been fighting with my coolrunner to get it to glitch faster. I have run the wires different ways etc...

I saw a few posts regarding a 683 capacitor that seems to have helped some people so I went up to Frys. All I could find there was a few caps ranging from 68pf-150pf. Which based on my googling is a few decimal places the wrong direction from what I need. I didnt really find this out until I opened the xbox up again.

One thing I did notice that seems odd though.

If I unplug my xbox from power for a few mins and then plug it back in and turn it on, it glitches almost instantly. This seems pretty odd to me, and might make sense to someone that has worked with these more.

Does my power plug finding indicate something to you experts?

Also, I should probably just chunk these caps that I have? Are they even worth giving a shot or am I likely going to break something?

I appreciate the help in advance.

There is a 100nf built-in capacitor on CR rev b. Just bridge two solder points.

If you do not have a rev. b put a 100-150nf capacitor on. Its not gonna do some damage whatsoever.

I am using 150nf on my jaspers and they boot instantly :)

Dont think there is anything wrong with your power brick

That's normal. If you search you will find threads about boot times just after reseting the system. There are also people installing switches on the coolrunner. This way when you want to turn the system on you just turn on the switch on the Coolrunner too. That makes a faster glitch.
Although you should be able to find a 68nf capacitor very easily. You can always buy a few on ebay or something, they are cheap. This will greatly improve your timmings

I will have to find this, I am fairly certain I have the rev b. But I was not aware of the built in cap

The rev B has 2 solder pads on it with the word cap under them. Just bridge the 2 pads with solder. See the pic beneath point A & B.

dose it seem to move slow on bootup or shutter on bootup like its going to freeze?

There is no freezing or anything, it works great just takes awhile to boot up. Anywhere from 4 seconds to 4 mins it seems.

Well good/bad news. With the cap bridged, I have seen a few glitches on the 2nd/3rd blink. Much improved but now the splash screen is lagging/freezing/getting real ugly. Also im not blinking on the card every time. Some boots it doesnt even blink green. Ill redo my solder points on the coolrunner later, but I didnt touch them with the iron.....

Redid all the points on the coolrunner, and outside of the case it was booting to the default dashboard just fine. (I have FSD installed on the HDD which wasnt plugged in). Put it all back together and now im freezing on the xbox360 splash screen

UGH

Well I am even more confused.... I started troubleshooting and remove the HDD and booted again. Instant glitch and I am at the default dashboard just fine...

Snap the HDD on and I am no longer lagging on the splash screen but I never get past it either. I mean its still animated, I can see the green moving around, etc. So it doesnt look frozen but its not booting for me....

Ok when booting to normal dash it still seems to be freezing, I cant use the controller shortly after it boots up.

Honestly I wish I would have just dealt with the slow boots at this point in time.

It just takes some trial and error mate, definitely sounds like interference somewhere.

The thread was marked answered before I found a solution but.... Just in case others are reading looking for a fix.

What worked for me was running the yellow/blue wires around the edges of the motherboard. I ran the blue around by the fans and the yellow (if you are looking at it installed) around the left side of the motherboard.

With that routing and the cap. I am now booting to FSD instantly.
