So far I have sucessfully done 4 slims, 3 falcons and 1 zephr, and this si the 2nd 512Mb jasper that I'm having issues with, xell evntually boots after about 30 seconds, CPU key correct and freeboot image created via latest Jtag tool, flshed back correctly, but will not glitch so far its getting on for 4 minutes, any suggestions

after flashing the freeboot, it wont even glitch and show xell, what am I doint wrong?

Green light on TX CR is flashing as its supposed to.

update, just re-flashed the ecc file, took nearly 5 minutes to glitch, I have installed it correctly including placement of the wires exactly as the TX diagrams show, clearly this is not a soldering issue, but why is it taking so long to glitch??

Re: Jasper Glitch issue with TX cool runner

Just a little update, after reading other forums, it has been suggested to put a 680pf cap between Gnd and Point A, I have done and it now glitches in under 30 seconds almost every time. It would aslo appear that many people are having the same trouble with BB jaspers.....

Sean, did you test for continuity between GND & point A before soldering the cap? If not, might be worth removing and testing again. I would do it my self but not back home until Tuesday night.

I've never had an issue with a jasper. Only one I've ever had issues with is zephyr.

Saying that each console is different. If this is a fix that worked for your situation we will look at it further but we've never had an issue and between all our testers we've fitted to hundreds now

Mate, trust me, Ive spent ages trying to get the damm thing to glitch!, I tried several caps and this was the only one that booted immediatley! The soldering is fine.

This is also the 2nd 512mb jasper that I have used the TX cool runner on and it had exactly the same issue! (until I overheated one of the resistors!)

Ubber, how many BBJaspers did you test it on? I am only curious as it seems to be quite common

I have a 512mb Jasper thats doing the same. I thought it was due to the bad block at 003a thats remapped to 1FF. But will check out the cap tomorrow morning :)

That cap is 68nf

683 = 68 with 3 0's = 68000pf = 68 nf

Got similar news today from Oggy, he used 682, albeit incorrectly it worked...

be carefull on what cap you use, I tired several 680pf caps, but this one (from maplins) was the only one that made it glitch, I have been playing around withit all evening and even when warm, boots xell pretty much as soon as its powered on and to dash in 4 seconds every time.......I'm amazed and also very pleased with t he results:)

Re: Jasper Glitch issue with TX cool runner

Im quite interested to find out as well I have my coolrunner for a jasper with a 512mb NAND. I've not tried to install it yet (still can't get ahold of the QSB's or update cables yet in the UK), but think I will pick up the right cap so I can glitch it properly.

Re: Jasper Glitch issue with TX cool runner

so what is it then??
Cap numbering is like resistor numbering.

Three digits.

1st two digits is the number in pF
3rd digit is the number of zeroes.

so 683 is 68 000, so 68nF as already indicated.

A 681 is what you were probably after.

As I'd said before, a 680pF between the two points you have yours on and a 680pF in line with CPU_RST seems to work extremely well for me.

Martin,

Thanks for that, its interesting though as this is what maplins actually suggested once I told them what I was after.

Either way, I have no other 360 thats as fast as this one.

Re: Jasper Glitch issue with TX cool runner

The one I had which wouldn't glitch at all (well, it did but VERY infrequently) was resolved with 2 x 680pF caps. It now boots within 5-7 secs every time.
