Re: Jasper Glitch issue with TX cool runner

The one I had which wouldn't glitch at all (well, it did but VERY infrequently) was resolved with 2 x 680pF caps. It now boots within 5-7 secs every time.
So just so I'm clear about this:p

You have a 680pF cap from CPU_PLL_BYPASS to GND

and

a 680pF cap from CPU_RST to GND

I'm also having trouble with a Jasper:mad2:.

Re: Jasper Glitch issue with TX cool runner

have tried some the fixes recommended here, along with a 480pf on cpu rst.

really cant figure out the jasper i have here, going to take everything out and start again, still getting about 3min boot times.

might just give up on this one and stick to a falcon.

so have you tried my fix? the 0.068uF Cap between Gnd and Point A?

Please be more specific.
Exact caps used and where.
Yep, sure. I had posted it previously but I'll put it again here.

You need 2 x 680pF ceramic capacitors. Voltage is irrelevant but fit reference I used 50V caps.

Put one between CPU_PLL_BYPASS (A) and GND.

For the other, solder one leg to CPU_RST (point D on the coolrunner) and on the other leg, solder the wire from CPU_RST on the board.

Put one between CPU_PLL_BYPASS (B) and GND.

Should that not be point (A) as sean has done?

Apologies, corrected!

---------- Post added at 23:55 ---------- Previous post was at 23:54 ----------

I've just tried with 2 x 100nF capacitors on a Jasper with Digilent C-Mod.

Works fine, boots every time within 3-4 secs.
The Jaspers seem to be very finicky - I've just finished with one which was very inconsistent. However a 100nF between A and GND has it booting within 5 secs 9/10 times.

Well got mine sorted thanks to seanr28 and Martin C.

Had to put a 68pF in the points sean mentioned and also one on D like Martin did.

This was also a BB nand (512mb)

Don't you mean a 68nF (0.068uF) ?

and it should have made any difference at all adding one to CPU_RST - did you test for any difference ?

Yep sorry it was (0.068uF) It was the exact same cap that seanr28 used from maplin.

Will test with out the one on D later when I get home.

Just finished my first BB Jasper (512MB) and boots every time within 5 seconds or less. I bought all those capacitors to have handy just in case but looks like I won't need them with this one.
