I have got 2 really fussy jaspers,
1 will boot after about 5-10mins, have reinstalled coolrunner about 10 times now checked over all wiring and tried all the different capacitors, whatever i do i cant get it to work any better.

got a 2nd BB jasper that i cant get to glitch at all,

i know the coolrunner is working, just cant figure these jaspers out!

going to give it another bash now

EDIT:
Have created my ecc manually, re routed wires, i soldered D to the top side, its glitching much better now, not perfect but its doing under 30 secs at the moment. Going to try some caps now after testing!

Edit 2:
I can confirm i am now getting reliable boots in 3 secs consistantly, using the capacitor recommended by Sean!
Amazing, thanks

Here
Throw my name in the hat for the capacitor addition in helping boot times. Went from ~2minutes to ~5 seconds. VERY helpful, you should know that from this being my first post and I registered 6 years ago.

So, for the curious ones among us, what is the mechanism thought to be that this helps? What made Seanr28 try it in the first place? Still waiting for my QSBs so not sure whether I'll need it or not but am very interested in the reasoning behind it.

Thanks

I believe the CPU_PLL_BYPASS benefits from a controlled boost for signal purposes. The cap offers this by having it on the line.

I also believe Sean got the idea from another site, so waiting for him to come clean.... :)

As I have already stated, it was by pure fluke! I wanted a 680pf cap and maplins gave me the 683.......

Thought it was something to regulate the passage of current from my very rudimentary memory of GCSE physics from many years ago.

Add me to the list, my jasper rarely glitched within 10 minutes, added a 68nF capacitor - now it is pretty consistent under 30 seconds! Fantastic! Something to add though, my Jasper is only a 16mb nand Jasper!

+1 for this method, popped into maplins today and picked up the last one they had, exactly the same as op.

my 16mb jasper went from booting in around 30 secs (sometimes) to booting almost instantly 9/10 times, this makes the console usable now, wow thanks for sharing!

can someone post where to find these capacitors online? i can only find surface mounts on DigiKey, and RadioShack, both local and online has none in stock. also, is 0.068uF the correct one?
