Today I have successfully RGH'd two other Xbox's. One Jasper and one Slim. (With no messups!) As I have been practacing and learnt from past mistakes, I have improved. :)

Hey guys, I have done 100's of xboxs but this is my first winbond hack.

I was wondering if it would work if I very slowly chip away at the IC chip (I know how to calculate the point) with my exacto knife? Or would that be too sharp? And would doing this without soldering the resistor and attaching the wire to the blade affect the process? Why is that done in the first place?

Thanks for your help. I'm not a noob but this is the only place I can ask.

Cheers!
I use box cutter and cheap version of xacto knife with no problem. Just be precise in measuring, drill slowly, check for the gold wire with a microscope, drill again.

i am 15 now ok!
what i meant was, my father had a shop and seriously he didnt teach me, he told me the best way to learn was to watch and try, so i used to "watch" him when i was 12 and watched for the whole year untill i had the money to buy the new slim and bought it and did the kamekaze on it round the end of my 13-14s
THEN he started helping me and telling me all the secrets... lol and i would work if he was tired, outside etc, so from 14-15 i did almost 57 kamekazes and lately llike a week ago i tried 6 rghs, 5 worked and one lets say umm... has some technical problems =))
so its not made up its real

You can always dump the drive keep a good backup. Have a go. Either you succeed and it's happy days or you shell out for an unlocked pcb (more expensive but job done)
