I've just received my order on the X3CE with ProSwitch.
Hi everyone i have been reading all over this forum for answer to my questions. i am really new to xbox modding and very interested in modding my xbox. so here is the question.

#1. Is there any differences/danger in modding the xbox fresh outta box without powering it on. Buy xbox, open it up, and just install the chip ? As opposed to setting up the game and playing games on it for awhile. will this frag my box after install? i have a 1.6pcb rebuild.

#2. I found www.teamxecuter.com veryusefull and i am going here http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6682 for this tutorial after i get a confirmation for #1. Am i on the right track? or do i need more

Anybody? please give feedbacks thanks. this new updated site is well organized i like it.

I would play it for atleast 90 days to make sure and leave it on for a long time like over night if it breaks or overheats it will do that in the first couple of monthe or not at all I have had a problem with the LAN shorting out and burning a trace this happened witha new XBOX never opened it so I carefully opened it up adn saw the burnt trace put it back together and no M$ didnt know I didnt brake the sticker sent it to M$ got it fixed they said they had to replace the motherboard or as they called it (Main Board) the same problem happened to my friends XBOX and he didnt have a warnty so I opened it up and saw the burnt trace not sure what caused it but have read that it could be dust that caused it to short out

anyways I would use it first or clame that it is broke and send it to M$ to get fixed they will clean it and check it out sometimes things get past quality control at M$ and this is a good way to have a second pair of eyes to look for problems since you say that it is broke then they will look for problems with the motherboard even if it works they will still open it and lok at it I know because they put a new sticker on the bottom

#1 question why is it that the xbox has to be played with first before it can be modify.
i just bought an xbox and ready to install the x3. i thought we can just chipped it right away. And by the way Punch i didn't mean to confuse you, my xbox is not broken, it is new. i was wondering WILL this method cause my xbox to not boot up correctly. thanks for your replies. anymore feedbacks please. much appreciated.

so when there are bad working things in your box, you can still use it warranty.

when you mod it directly, you void your warranty, when problems occur

when i got my new xbox all i did was power it on for 5 minutes to make sure it was working then i put the chip in it. there's no need to wait 90 days before installing the chip

Hey,
I wouldn't wait 90 days either. Rent or borrow a game or two and play for a few hours. If it brakes or for any reason doesn't work it will be covered under warranty.
Once you mod it the warranty is void and your SOL.

Over Xmas I bought a new box and chipped it before I ever turned it on. I figured if I chipped it and put a new HD in before it ever got a chance to connect to M$ then if the marriage theory was correct I'd be good for live. (haven't tested the live thing yet)

It works fine.

Although now that I think of it, it would have been smart to plug it in and make sure it worked first.

Regardless, there is no other reason to turn it on before you mod it right out of the box.

thanks everyone for u'r input. it clarify things for me now. i mean i waited for responses before even doing anything to the box. just being cautious to not frag my box thats all. now on to step #2 installing the chip.

by the way punch theory was right for using up the warranty for 90 days first. just to make use of the warranties.

but i will go ahead and play with my new xbox right now as some suggested.
I don't really care about the warranty thing. thanks folks :)
