Hello Every one

this site has changes much since 2008 lol

Ive been off the xbox scene and the xbox it self since 2008 and I want to revive the xbox.

Ive been browsing the forums for several days and the amount of new information is overwhelming, there is new stuff like J-tag and RGH (whatever that means ) and I dont even know what they do .

Anyway Long story Short ,, I have a Phat xbox elite with the Benq drive and its flashed with ixtreme 1.4 and it has been off since 2008, I did the flashing back then through DOS and I have a backup of the original firmware.

My question is, How should I approach the new firmware for the drive and the box itself?

Should I flash to stock and then update and then re-flash to the latest ixtreme ?

or can I flash directly to the latest ixtreme and then update the box ?

what tools do I need to accomplish this task ?? and is it safe for Live ?

any help would be appreciated

P.S if some one cares to explain what does the RGH do and what will it let me do

Thanks

Ok well first to answer your question, You should flash to stock, update the console, then flash to LT+3.0. You can use the jungleflasher program in the downloads section here, it comes with a detailed step by step interactive tutorial. Next I don't know much about the RGH ( Reset Glitch Hack) But i do know that people are doing it to slims and phat consoles alike. TO me it seems similar to the jtag, where you can load games from an external HDD and use homebrew apps and such. I could be wrong here though, like I said i dont know much about it yet either.

Thanks mate for the reply I will flash back to stock and then update online and then reflash it with LT+3.0 ,
Its seems that the J-tag and the RGH wont let you play on Live right or have game updates ??
is it worth it to do a RGH or J-tag ?

Cheers

I think you can play online IF you run a dual nand with the RGH. But as I said before I really don't know for sure. I am actually getting ready to do my first RGH console once the cr3 pro and other misc items are released from Team-xecuter

Burner max is firmware released by C4Eva which allows you to burn 8.7 GB on a dual layer Verbatim MKM001 or MKM003 DVD+R (made in Singapore). This is important because most newer games are type XGD3, and with the new LT+ firmware, you must properly burn these XGD3 games to be live safe.

You will need either an iHas1X4-B (X=1, 2, 3, 4 etc.) to flash CVEVA's burner max firmware, or a crossflashable rebadged drive (check c4evasspeaks.com for a full listing of crossflashable drives. Unfortunately, your old backups are not live safe, and you must re-burn them with truncation.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it

Do I need to reburn the old backups (2008 titles i.e dirt , gtaIV,etc) or are they fine ??

Regarding the IHAS drive is it the only option (since I cant get hold of one in my area and shipping from the US or the UK will be expensive and the fact that I cant find verbatim dvds ) ??? any recommendations

Can anyone shed some light on the ODE's (optical drive emulators) , they seem quite expensive though but better in the long run ,, do you know any good brands or have any experience with them ?
