because, if your using an x3 you dont have to solder your eeprom just do a restore from the oher backup.

And on that ebay deal.... I got you beat, guy next door got a new 1.6 so I got his 1.0 for 10.00 after parts (chip & what not) I still only have @ 110 in mine :p

Haha, yeah, that's actually a big price to pay for a broken Xbox. Imagine if that had been a different problem that you couldn't have fixed ;). I wouldn't pay more than $50 unless I knew exactly what the problem was and that I could fix it for sure, or that it had something worth buying in it (good drive maybe, good mobo i needed, etc)

but look at all the other crap i got with it! the xbl and ncaa 2005 alone are worth more than i payed.

as for the backup thing, i would so use that if my other mobo wasn't dead. so you see, desoldering is the only way.

Yeah, I suppose you still ended up with a pretty good deal. I already have one of those games and I won't pay for XBL (and I don't want the other game haha) So it wouldn't have been such a great deal for me :p

Also, whoever has an avatar or sig at mrmodchips needs to remove it because the site is apparently down temporarily and it's asking for a login.

you need to look at resale value of these things. i can easily get $60 for XBL ($70 on shelf) and probably about $30 for NCAA. thats most of what i payed for right there. then i can mod the box and sell it for a hefty sum.
