what is the best dvd+r dl writer drive? im thinkin of purchasing a new one because the games i have backed up using my current burner drive havent worked, any tips aswel would be useful thanks

There is no "best" burner, find a combination that works for you, personally I have a Pioneer 111d and use Verbatim DVD+R DL, I know the LiteOn and LG DL burners work just as well. The Pioneer auto sets the Booktype to DVD-ROM, altho I believe new FW for other burners does this also.
Best thing to do watto is buy a verbatim disc (single) and burn in the drive you have now - no point shelling out for a new dvd writer if the media is to blame
well i bought 5 verbatim disks but none of them worked on my 360 and a friend of mine gave me a infiniti disk with a game on and that worked so im probably going to buy some of them and give it a try. do some disks not work very well with certain burners then?cheers

I swear by my LG but pioneer have good reports and support but a decent dual layer burner should be fine.
PrimitiveX5, what model LG burner do you have?, I have seen some LG DL burners at the northern comp fairs for I think £22 wondered if they were the same type. I cannot for the life of me get my 111d to update the FW and broke my A09 in the past trying to, I have to burn at x1, not a major issue really. I might purchase the LG if it's the right one.
