Benq is good the only problem is most of them came during the time the xbox was having overheating issues...But you won't find an easier model to flash period...The phat liteon 83C v.1 would be the second easiest imho and most of those came after the issues with heating were supposedly fixed...But if you get a usbpro, ck3i and a probe v.3 all phat liteons are almost as easy as the Benq.Cog

I personally haven't had a problem with Phat Lite-on consoles, even with strenuous use. And they've given me the most reliable flash when flashed with the CK3 Probe v3

Old Hitachis are really easy and no AP2.5 issues. My 59 has been re-flashed several times and no issues with it ever.

I know it's a little more expensive to mod, but I personally love the slim lite-on 16d4s series. If I can't find a benq, I want that particular lite-on drive. Extremely easy to do, although is a little more expensive in some degree.

More realistinc to just think on any phat. On phats benq is the easiest and no devices needed to flash, but is rather hard to find ant to check what driver model it has.

I would not complicate things and think on just "PHAT" mode.

If you go slim route, you¡ll have high chances to get locked winbond chipset, or even worse, an unlockable drive, like the hitachi.

In my opinion:

Best drive = Samsung
Easiest to Flash = Benq

i hate sammys, benq are the best by far.
The old Hitachi's and Sammys are the only drives that currently work with all XGD3 back-ups with all M$ updates installed due to them not being capable of the AP25 checks, all my backups run fine, hence no LT3.0 development.

Not having to worry about patching discs is quite a big deal at this moment in time, thats why I think the Sammy is the best.

Even on a live updated console, with silent updates installed and 14699 dash??

Please someone to confirm this.

I just did.

Samsung drives cannot do AP25 checks, "silver bullet" is all about passing those checks.

If you check the firmware developments on c4e speaks you will see there is no mention of LT 3.0 for Samsung drives, the reason for that is cause it is not needed.

Yes all my XGD3 back-ups work great on LT 2.01 and I am fully updated from M$.
