Hi,

I tried to update my X3 with the 1959 bios on my 1.6 Xbox. I successfully flashed Flashbios 3.0.0 onto the backup bank and then did the update. My first mistake was to use the bios for my version of xbox.

My second mistake was changing the dip-switches to boot the Xbox to the backup bank (which got me into the Flashbios program). I then attempted to flash (via DVD) the correct the bios file but the process froze on 75%.
No other option but to switch off but it was then I realised I had screwed up the flashing on the backup bank. So now both the banks are faulty and I have no way to get the unit working. Any idea's?

And yes, I now realise how utterly stupid I was... twice !!!!

heh, so you fail reflashing on both bank 1234 and 5678 now?
and, flashbios still freeses?

I don't know how the bios is programmed to handle that situation, could this be a bug in flashbios?

I have a version of bios for the wrong version of xbox on 5/6/7/8 bank, which stops the system from booting. And a 75% complete version of the correct bios on 1/2/3/4 bank. I have no working bios to boot from and flashbios was overwritten as well. Unless there is a way of getting the xbox to boot from 'another' bios I seem pretty screwed.

If anybody has a spare 'get out of jail free card', please put me out of my misery. Cheers

Gary.

You can boot to the back up bios, press the eject and power button at the same time when switching on the xbox, the X3 logo should turn purple and you'll boot up to the backup flashbios.

yeah, but you cant flash a 1024k bios like the x3 bios when you boot with the backup bios. its very weird, it only accepts a 256k bios. i suppose you first have to flash the corrupted banks 1234 with flashbios and then with the x3bios

Make sure you have uncompressed the bios file first .-) then it should work fine. Also rename the bios file when decompressed to bios.bin and set the two DIP switches marked 1 and 2 to ON state. Rest should be off.

i think what gary is saying is that he doesnt have anything in the backup as well .. (kinda what my problem is, infact exactly my problem)

so power + eject doesnt work coz we have no backup either .. no backup .. no main ..
machine simply doesnt boot .. thats garys problem .. mine is a bit less worse as i have one evoX bios with m$dash which's listerally useless ..
and yea i have no backup like garys ..

we're screwed man !!

as far as i know the only way to delete the back up bios is via config live and flash the backup bios with a bad file other than that the back up should be there. I've managed to flash the main banks 1,2,3,4 via the backup with X3 1959 to correct a bad first flash so there must be another problem with the bios file you are trying to use. :)

ABGX stealth files

i recently ran all my backups through abgx with everything green and burned them on some memorex DL. i have since read that verbatims were much better for the laser and longevity of the 360 so i want to reburn everything. my question is, now when i re-extract the iso and run it through abgx, abgx doesnt download anything but the games still go through green. is this because all the stealth files are saved from the previous runs and are just being reapplied? i just want to make sure that i dont have to do anything (like clear the stealth folder) before using abgx on the same isos. i really dont understand how the program patches the files.

any help to clarify this would be great. thanks!

Re: ABGX stealth files

thanks for the suggestion.

i just want to make sure though. ABGX does not need to download the patch files if the same game is re-extracted and run through the program a second time?

Re: ABGX stealth files

i ran them through abgx the first time. but i want to reburn everything on verbatim so im re-extracting the files and running them again.

i was just noticing that abgx wasnt downloading anything this time so i was worried that it wasnt patching correctly.

but it is right?

Re: ABGX stealth files

they are "backups"
i saved the rar files and now im just reextracting and running them through abgx

so the program saves the files so that if you ever run the same game through it doesnt need to download again?

Re: ABGX stealth files

To answer your question:

YES. ABGX has a folder that it saves the .ini files it downloads. So if you've already downloaded it, it will not download again. Depending on your ABGX settings, it should just check for local files first, then check for a newer online file, if it doesn't find one, it will just apply the local file.
