a while back i had my x3ce in my xbox and it was working perfectly, i had unleashx and a bunch of other programs but when i took it apart i dropped the hard drive and it broke later on i bought a hard drive and mother board pair and took my x3ce off the old board and put it in the new board after i was done i turned it on and it froze whent the x 3 rox my box thing comes up it doesn't do anything:mad: when i disable the chip it goes it the ms dash with no problem i think that the live config is searching for a dashboard but theres none on the hard drive when i press the white buton it does not go to live config. is there some reset on the chip so its like when i first got it, or a way to get a fresh copy 0f the x3 bios on the chip.

what do i do?????

Resetting to bios defaults can be done by holding A+B+X+Y during boot up.
But if holding the white button doesn't work i doubt this will work.

What you can also try is flash an alternative bios to another bios bank and run the X3 erase utility, X3_erase.xbe. Then reflash your X3 bios again.

default.xbe erase app you dont need
if you have not installed a dash and you have not change the setting in x3 then the x3 is looking for the old dash
you say you can,t get into x3 config (hold white button on bootup of xbox till you see x3config) could you in old xbox
if you still have a backup bank (power eject at same time to get flashbios)flash chip with x2 bios to the other bank other then the one the x3 is on then install a dash if not allready installed then install x3 eeprom erace app use that then change back to x3 bios try getting into x3config sett it up to get dash to boot should be fixed

DJ, I like that collection of BIOSes you've got on your X3. I was wondering what to do with the extra space on the one I just installed, think I'm going to mimic your setup.

Remember, the 16plus BIOSes are only for the 1.6 Xboxes. DJ has the X3 and X2 16plus BIOSes because he has a 1.6 Xbox. If you have a 1.0-1.5 Xbox you should be using the "vOld" versions of these BIOSes. Thought this should be brought up to help avoid any further complication, just in case...

Unless things are different on the X3 (which I would doubt) FlashBIOS will always start writing from the start of the chip, regardless of switch settings. So if you get into FlashBIOS and successfully flash the X2 BIOS to your chip you are going to need to set the switches to boot a 512KB BIOS from banks 1 and 2. This should be covered in the switch guide DJ linked to.
