flashing lie ondg-16d2s

so i have flashed my toshiba-samsng ms28 drive using jungleflasher.
now i have a mate who wants me to do his drive but his is the lite on dg-16d2s, so i googled around and looked for guides and came across that i need the connectivity kit v3 ck3 & usb liteon solderless probe to do this.

just wondering do i actually need the connectivity kit to flash it or can i just use my pci via sata card to flash it with ixtreme lt v1.1?

any help would b greatfully appreciated

Unless it's a pretty old liteon, you will need more than that and you may need some soldering skills.

Re: flashing lie ondg-16d2s

open the consol and read on the dvd drive check F/W revision or something like that.

there are four possible revisions

7xxxx series
for the 7xxx series you need a probe to extract the DVD key your options are to buy one or make one yourself

8xxxx V1 series
you need nothing but a pc for 8xxxx V1 series

8xxxx V2 series
you need major soldering skills for 8xxxx V2

(The only way to tell if you have 8xxxx V1 or V2 is to physically try and dumb the firmware it wont say which version it is on the cd reader it will only say 8xxxxx and thats it)

9xxxx series
you need major soldering skills for 9xxxx

To be honst if you take your time and do it smoothly soldering would go really easy.
