Bios and Dashboard help...

Ok im just a tiny bit confused on Bios and dashes...

Im wanting the EvoX dash but im confused on what all needs to be done before i apply the dash. do i need to change the Bios or what?

Ive been told many things and after an hour of seaching figured that i should just ask...

well, have you flashed the bios with something? you do not need to flash it again to get evox or something. you know when you boot up your box? and the screen comes up. thats the M$ Dash, evox is just an alternative to that.

well im getting the chip tomorrow so im getting ideas now so i can play with it later...
So if i want the EvoX dash thats all i need to install? no upgrading the bios?

Before even thinking of new dashs, you will need to flash the X3 with a new BIOS. The one that is loaded is purely a bootoader that enables you to download a "modified" BIOS.

Even with the new X3_2666 (or whatever the number wil be) BIOS just around the corner, I would strongly advise you to go to xbin (search xbox-scene.com for a tutorial), and grab a copy of the current X3_1959 BIOS ... the download server is likely to get swamped as soon as the new bios is released.

Get your tools together now, before the chip arrives - you'll want/need IRC, and FlashFXP. You might also look into Quix.

Do you have the Xbox networked? If you are already on XBL, then you are OK network wise, otherwise, you might want to look into either running a straight through Cat5 cabel fromt he Xbox to a network hub, or get a crossover Cat5 for Xbox -> PC connection.

Ya the xbox was networked long ago for other reasons.
So far ive got FlashFXP and some random skins for EvoX.
When i get off from work tonight im going to install IRC and find the 1959 BIOS so i can flash it up tomorrow with 0 problems

Jump online as soon as you can - xbins has a limit on the number of users, and you might be pissed if you can't get the LAST bios, and get your box up and running because everyone is grabbing the NEW bios.

i got the new BIOS 1959 just about an hour ago....i had 0 problems getting everything i wanted!
