Ok I installed the x3 and front panel no problems, I am trying to flash the 1mb bios of the x3 1959. I have the 1 and 2 switches turned on when i booted up and flashed the chip. I flashed it via http, and it erased and wrote, then shut down, but whenever i boot up using the bios i flashed (with banks 1 and 2) in the on position, i get nothing on the screen, but it doesn't frag, the led board is still a blue x3, what am i doing wrong? I can boot up with the backup 256k bios, and can try reflashing again but i dont know what i am doing wrong.

LiteOn 83850c

Has anyone got linkies to a good tutorial on how to Flash a LiteOn 83850c. (I'm due back at work soon and need to set off in 5 mins otherwise I would look ha)

EDIT: It's an Elite Drive, therefore it was manufactured on the 15/07/2009
I hear these can't be flashed yet no?

Also do I really need a CK3 probe ir a VIA Card? I have neither, so a tutorial without these would be great (I'm sure you can flash without them?)

And daft question I'm not to sure on: Do you need your HDD with your OS plugged in or can I use the SATA cable from the HDD to use on the Drive itself. I have an external 1TB HDD if that helps. (USB obviously)

Thanks for any answers! Plus I'm new here so Hi to everyone!

James.

Re: LiteOn 83850c

Just 2 let you know you dont need to use the MRA HACK with the 8xxxxx series liteon anymore.

Use the jungleflasher tutorial for this as i used that and it worked great. :)

Re: LiteOn 83850c

Cheers lads, was just about to get the latest iXtreme but am I to use 1.6 or LT1.1 now? Plus I've heard you have to do the switch trick on V2 Drives of the lite-on or has this been resolved in the latest version of JungleFlasher?

EDIT: I have - Jungleflasher 0.1.71 | iXtreme Light Touch 1.1 |
Correct :D

Sorry I'm being a pain in the arse.

Cheers

Re: LiteOn 83850c

going by the manufacture date on your drive its going o be a v1, just follow the jungleflasher tutorial for the 8 series v1, its really easy drive to flash and theres no need to use the mra method to dump it, basically just hook your drive up, power on with tray half open, open jungle flasher, go to the dvdkey32 tab then click the LO83info button and follow what it tells you to do

Re: LiteOn 83850c

Cheers for that got the JF tut PDF. Problem is, (It's probably me being dense) I've had the first power cycle go through (Open tray half way with Xbox Powering it) I know the method to get it to work, but it sometimes fails to extract? Does it it have to be EXACTLY Halfway?

And on the second Powercylce do i have to turn off the xbox then turn itback on and repeat the Hlafway open method?

Really stuck here. It looks easy after.

Re: LiteOn 83850c

Easier explantion.

I keep getting the LO83info Failure,
I'm using my Xbox to power the Drive.
I know you have to pull out the power cable (black wire, white plug) to the Drive when you press Eject whilst doing the power cycle, then I plug it back in and click OK it prompts me to open the drive fully.

So I do and click OK. Then I just get this error. Does the drive have to be EXACTLY halfway?

If I pull the power cord when the dirve is 3/4 open, can I manually push it to about 2" out, or do I have to pull the power cord when it meets around/close to halfway?

Sorry for the mega annoyance, but I suppose this is what the noob section is for haha.

I've managed to get to the Second power cycle, but it failed on that one :(
Plus if I get to my second power cycle, do I have to turn the xbox off, eject the tray, do the halfway trick again or do I leave the Xbox on and eject it fully with the button and do the halfway trick?
Much help will be appreciated.

Re: LiteOn 83850c

Right I think I've found the error. My Drive is being displayed in "My Computer" or the Windows Explorer and it's not actually showing in JungleFlasher. I've looked at all the I/O ports on JF and none of them show my drive. Silly me...

I have Windows 7 x32 and I'm using JF 0.1.71

Re: LiteOn 83850c

dont power cycle the xbox, just unplug the drive power cable to power cycle the drive, thats the way i did it a while back before i decided to buy a connectivity kit and it worked first try, sometimes takes people a couple of tries to get the half open power on right

Re: LiteOn 83850c

Right I'll try that cheers. I kept power cycling the Xbox. Anyway, I can't get JF to detect it, it's a basic connection between the Mobo straight into the drive by using a SATA cable. Any halpp?

Thanks again mate.

Re: LiteOn 83850c

ensure you are running jf as admin!
ensure you are using primary SATA port (you may have to move your HD)
ensure RAID is turned off in BIOS

Thankyou so much! Finally got the Dummy.bin dumped, but now when it prompts me to auto load the i-Xtreme Firmware I click "Yes" and it says failed to auto-load the Firmware. So when I manually open it, it gives me a string of 7's in the Drive Key box.

Also I'm using LT 1.1 8385 bin file (V1) I'm plascing it in the "Firmware" Folder where JF is located.

I've managed to get my Drive key, but now this problem! Agian any help I thank alot to you guys. Cheers

Re: LiteOn 83850c

In the JF Tutorial it says make sure the DVD Keys Match before Spoofing?

EDIT: Nevermind, it auto Spoofs if the auto load successes anyway. Will try this now, cheers.
