i have installed x3ce in xbox and about to flash bios. I got rar file for bios, extracted, changed single bin name to bios.bin and created dummy.bin. In tutorial about making compatiable dvd disc, it says these 2 files should change to uppercase, mine dont, whats happening???? or will it still work on flashing.

as u can tell, first time attempted.

You're right, it worked fine. now it boots and gives options to change 'x3 live' and etc. I scroll down to reboot to dash and it does nothing. Is this initial screen a so called 'dash board' for the x3???.

Another question: with evox or what ever dashboard, are you to flash bios on different banks just to suit the different dashboards, or are they just transferred straight onto my drive as it is now with the x3bios flashed.??

ok in x3 bios disable boot to x3config(hold white button on controller when booting xbox to get it back)

it will now boot to the ms dash
if you wish to install a new dash the best way to do this is by a auto install like AUTO INSTALLER DELUXE 3
it will install a dash as well as apps
when you installed the dash go back into x3 config find and high lite dashboard boot priority
set the dash you have installed to the top highlite push A then move to top

now push B
now scroll down to dashboard boot drive

highlite the drive you installed the dash push A
eg XBMC is installed in E:/ so pick E:/

now to to save your eeprom to the x3
highlite eeprom tools push A
now highlite save xbox eeprom to x3 push A

DO NOT SET PASSWORD IN X3CONFIG
IT HAS A BUG

now try reboot to dash it should boot to the dash you haved installed

if you wish to boot to the ms dash just pick it to boot

okay, i tried the first screen with disable x live startup. still no different.

dont call me duh, but at the time of installing chip, i also have installed a new hdrive, and of course nothing on disk. is the ms dash from the bios or the disk.

Also, i have the bank switch on on off off off , if i hold the on button at startup, it comes up with green writing; call service; part chinese, light at front flashes red/green and the x3 switch is red, is this right??

I found that by installing both the MS Dash and the hacked dash on the same C drive makes life a lot easier. That's what I've done. I have both MS dash and XBMC on the C drive. I found that I need to install XBMC as an Application through AID instead of through the Install Dash option. That is when AID is up, after installing MS dash, I go straight to Install Apps and choose to install XBMC to C drive. Note that XBMC also exist in Installing Dashboards but it will be installed in either E or F drive. Installing it onto E or F would mean that you'll have to play around with the boot priority like what DJBOOBY said. Be aware that installing both MS and XBMC onto C drive would pretty much fill up the C drive. I simply don't use any other dash than XBMC so I don't really care.

Like alot of people, I've got XBMC as an application in E drive and used XBE shortcut maker for the dashboard boot. Didn't want to mess up my C Drive that much...
