I have a 1.6 Xbox installed with an X3 chip, with the 1959 Bios. I'm attempting to update the bios to the latest one and would like some help if at all possible. I have made a disk according to the guide and now want to flash the bios. I'm using the 1234 bank set as on,on,off, off, off.

Now look as I may I cannot seem to find the FlashBios program, only a section uder bios tools that offers an option to flash the main rom. I select this and choose from DVD ROm and all that happens is the apperence of two white lines accross the middle of the screen and thats it. The screen does not freeze as you can go back a screen.

I've the following Bios X3 3029 v16plus.bin and have found the latest Flash Bios program.

I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong and whether I need to install the Bios program or can I do it with my original setup

Help would be most appreciated

Thanks

Ok I found that Flash Bios was on the back up bios, but one question

What is the proceedure if I want to update that to the latest version???

I updated the 1mb bios from the Flash Bios Program on the backup bios, so how the hell do you update the back up if you need to use it to update the bios

yeah, your flashbios should be on your backup which you can get to by pressing power button and eject button until your x3 cp turns purple. Second, since you have 1959 bios already installed and if you have ftp setup, try ftp flash. It's easy and quick. No dvd or cd needed. The steps are as follows:

I would keep the 1959 for now and flash 3029 into the other 1mb bank. Suppose you got 1959 in banks 1234, then I would flash 3029 into banks 5678 just in case new bios is too buggy for you and you want to get back to the more stable bios. To ftp flash, disable flash protect. Get on X3 config live. Use ftp client on your PC to connect to your xbox (remember pw & username are "x3" without the quotes). Go to admin/bios banks/1024k banks/. Transfer your appropriate bios into bank 1+2+3+4 or bank 5+6+7+8 (if 1959 was installed in banks 1234 then put 3019 bios in 5678 folder). Your xbox should start the flash process. Of course when it's done, you want to set your switches to appropriate settings to boot to new bios (off on off off)

make sure not to use flashbios 3.0.3 flashbios with your xbox since xbox version 1.6 is not compatible with flashbios 3.0.3. You would want to use flashbios 3.0.1
