I got my chip installed and the flash bios worked fine. I flashed the X2 bios and it loaded fine. Now, when I start up the Xbox and try to load the X2 bios, it locks in the middle of loading it. It doesn't do it in the same spot every time, but it always locks. What's the deal?

The factory BIOS wont load either, but it didnt to begin with which is one reason I got a mod chip.

which box version do you have?
which X2 bios did you flash?
what was your installation method?
I have a 1.0 Xbox, the X2 BIOS I loaded was 5032 I believe, and I did it via HTTP. The BIOS said it installed completely and restarted the xbox as it said it should.

What I dont wanna do is flash the other bank and that mess up so I have a worthless mod chip.

make sure you've flashed the correct bios version - vOld

if you're box was freezing before you put the chip in than it may be a more serious problem that a chip cannot resolve

I did use vOld. Now, I dont think its another problem for this reason:

I did have a Spider Chip which I never got to work right. However, it DID load the factory BIOS fine with it installed, it just wouldnt load the Spider BIOS with it turned on or off. I played games with that one installed, and it just all the sudden one day it would just lock while loading. Well, now that I think about it, it could be something else.

So.... what could the something else be? I got the xbox for free because it didnt work. We believe heat caused the problem with it, I vented it and it worked fine till one day it just died. So, I got the other chip and it worked, now its died again, so I got the Xecuter chip. When all is said and done in what I've had to get for it to do stuff, I've got about $120 or so in it I think. Not so free!

*UPDATE*

I disconnected the DVD drive (it will not read CD-R's or DVD+R's, it is a Thompson) and it isn't locking up, it will load a BIOS. So, this tells me I need to replace the DVD drive, yes?
