Boot thru the BACKUP flash by pressing the POWER and EJECT button simultaneously. From there, you may flash the lower 1MB or upper 1MB of your flash memory (don't forget which switch setting is for what memory bank). Be sure to flash the correct bios file for your modchip.
It's good with X3 that it has a BACKUP flash incase you screwed flashing your modchip.

Make your you flash a compatible x3 3108 bios version for the 1.6 xbox. If you dont that will also cause you problems.

Try a different method, If you're trying to use a file on the HD, use http, and if those fail and you're desperate, make a disc.

DON"T forget, if you use the backup and get to choose a flash style, put the switches where they should be THEN enter your prferred flash mode.

boot to back up and set your switch settings to 'on on off off off' and then try. If thats already done then check check the flash protect switch on the chip itself. You may have switched the flash protect on and that might be why your xbox wont flash.

hope this helps
