I've got and xbox v1.4 and I seem to have got everything working because FlashBios pops up when I start the xbox.

So I wanted to flash it with the x3 bios, tried via network, I get to the screen when typing http://xboxip and I load the bios file and press flash, and it just freezes. i.e. doesn't show me any message in my browser, but on the screen a small p appears under the network settings.

So I thought, maybe my network cable is messed or smth. so I made a cd with the bios on it, and tried it that way. When putting the cd in, it reads for like 10 secs, and then spits it out asking me for the cd.

that is with all bios files (tried with the newest x3 and the flashbios 3.0.3)

The flash protect switch is off on the chip, and all switches are to the left. (so off? also tried with the first 2 switches to the right)

Same problem here, v1.6 although my flash to flashbios 3.0.3 was successful, its just the x3 bios thats a problem.

Going to try an x2 bios in a 256k bank, then ftp the x3 bios... Not sure if it'll work... will let you know.

This maybe a co-incidence, but i was using firefox to flash, and that didn't work unless you "jiggle it" - proabably very dangerous, i pressed, upload and flash, then pressed stop, then pressed upload and flash again, and hey presto, it works.

If you're using firefox, then somehow drag yourself away just for the flashing an use IE (urghhh)

Hope this helps.

I am having the same exact problem koyote...i have a thompson dvd ( i know they suck) but i cant even get the bios to flash. I burned the X3 bios to a dvd with a 100mb dummy file, I get the blue screen Flash Bios 3.03 and chose flash from cd/dvd. I get the msg 'Waiting for Drive...', the drive spins for about 30s - 1 min, then spits the cd out and says 'Please insert cd - flasing mode'.

My switches are all set right, both internal and external. I am getting REALLY frustrated.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Ok ur right. IE did the trick, so I guess firefox messes smth. up.
Still don't understand why it didn't work with the CD.

Oh, and I flashed it with x3, and now it boots and the screen stays black :S

sounds like it might be a pin 13/14 problem. Have a look at the sticky in the bios forum index page it should say what to do. hope this helps.
