Black Circle clog

What is the black circle clog on the upper left hand (when looking at the chip, and the "backup" label is the right orientation) of the modchip?

The black thing you are talking about is to control the contrast on the lcd screen if you have one. As for the backup label I'm not sure what you are talking about.
