Install went fine on ver 1.0 box unit boots to normal bios (red) and flashbios 3.01 blue , flashed bank on on off off off with x3 1959 bios.
Now boots into black screen only. Checked and resoldered lpc pins
no change. Flashed m8 bios and that boots ok re flashed x3 1959 tried downloading it again in case it was corrupted same thing both leds on x3 board are on. Also tried another x3 chip as I was going to install it in a
friends box, the other chip acts the same way. I have installed Xenium
chips in three other boxes with no problems. Iwas told that the x3 chip is the new king so i thought I'd give it a try but now I'am not so sure
After looking in all the forums the only reference I found to a blank screen
after flashing was a a bad solder connection on lpc pins 13 and 14
I would think that if this was the case I wouldnt be able to boot using the M8 bios. both versions of 1959 bios size is 1048,576 is it possible that he 1.6 version bios is incorrectly identified?I flashed with the 1.0-1.5 version
Can some one point me in the right direction?

I had a blank screen problem, similar to what you describe. I had accidentally flashed a 1.0 box with the 1.6 version of the BIOS. After reflashing, everything was fine. Double check which version of the BIOS you got. There's one BIOS for versions 1.0 - 1.5 and other version for 1.6. If you are sure you got the correct BIOS, you may want to re-download the BIOS. Several people have mentioned having a corrupted BIOS and having to download the BIOS a 2nd time before the unit would work correctly.

Found problem DESOLDERED LPC header. Under close inspection with a jewelers loupe PIN 13 connection was bad. I used wire harness in place of
header. I have a professional desoldering station and soldering Iron and magnifing lens for my old eyes. I am used to soldering surface mount components. I just did a 1.6 with no problems. So if anyone is having a problem after flashing the x3 1959 on a ver 1.0-1.5 IF YOU DID NOT DO A POINT TO POINT WIRING CHECK WITH A METER THEN YOU SHOULD

Overheating(?) Issue with Xbox :(

I didn't know where to post this.. but here goes.
My Xbox seems to be overheating so it says, but it hasn't been used in a while so there is no heat before and once it is powered on it immediately shows the red rings for overheating (two on the left). I felt the heatsink and again there is absolutely no heat.

How can I fix this?

Re: Overheating(?) Issue with Xbox :(

Have you done the x-clamp fix on it? What's the secondary error code?

My guess is that the heatsink is either too tight, not tight enough, or the pressure is not even on all 4 bolts (if you have done the xclamp fix)

Originally it was a Game$top Refurbish, but it started having some problems before. But I eventually gave up on it and bought an Arcade. Before I did (even though I don't remember lol) I tried some penny trick on it. I just took the motherboard out because I didn't think were any X-Clamps on (and there weren't), there were pennies in electric tape and some kind of gum on them attached to the bottom. I don't specifically remember doing this but I know I did in attempt to fix it.

Now what? lol

EDIT: It shows no error message, the screen stays blank and the error on the console shows up immediately.

Sorry, been busy with.....thing. lol

Hold down the sync button, then press the eject button, 4 times. The red lights will flash out a code, tell me what the code is, ok? It might be 0102, or 0020, or something similar. Thankya.

Re: Overheating(?) Issue with Xbox :(

It seems like no signal is being sent from the Xbox to the screen as well. I tried it with two different A/V cables and two TVs.

have you tried reading what acester posts?

haha, the secondary code is actually given by the ring of light on the xbox itself

Re: Overheating(?) Issue with Xbox :(

Its been awhile since I've dealt with the 0020 code, but heres what I got.

Motherboard, Heatsinks or chassis good be touching

Screws on heatsinks good be too tight

too much or not enough compound on chips

Make sure you are using plastic washers on both sides of the MoBo

Re: Overheating(?) Issue with Xbox :(

Well if its overheating and the heatsinks are not hot, theres your problem, the heatsink is too tight or too loose i reckon, either the cpu/gpu is getting too hot too fast and the heatsink cant tranfer the heat or its too tight and your consoles going meh!

I was reading it but I thought he meant the code will show up on screen. When I press the Sync button and eject x4 the lights just flash very fast infinitely.
