Blank Screen after X3 solderless Flash

I have just modded my model 1.6b xbox with an Xecuter 3 with solderless Xaptr3 and have run into problems trying to flash the bios. I got the latest Team Xecuter bios and used the version for 1.6b models (3294 v16plus).

I finally figured out the right switch settings (loading from banks 5/6) to load FlashBIOS 3.03. Then, I tried to flash from a disc and everything seemed to work fine (yellow erase and green flash bars went completely across the screen). The switches were on/on/off/off. But, when I try to load the flashed bios, the xbox turns on for a second, then turns right off. I am keeping the switches set to where they were when I flash.

Now, I seem to have managed to flash both 1-4 and 5-8 memory banks when trying different pin combos and it won't load to either flashed bank. I can't get FlashBIOS now either. I can still get it to bypass the modchip and boot to the original MS bios, but whenever I try to run the modchip, the xbox just turns off real quick.

I have never been able to load the 256 backup (before or after all the above), so that is not helping me.

I have read here and not been able to find a solution. It seems that some feel this is due to a soldering problem, but I have a solderless chip and could get it to load FlashBIOS before.

What can I do? Do I need to get a programmer now? Why won't my 256 backup work (I get the purple light, but the blank screen)? I sure would like to use my modchip!

Thank you in advance for your help!

You can't load your back-up, as you have a 1.6b, and the back-up is loaded with FalshBios 3.01. It sounds like you have flashed correctly, so maybe you need to check your Xapter install. Make sure all pins are making full contact with the LPC. Pins 13 and 14 are used for the X3 bios.

I have checked the connections and everything appears fine. All the LEDs are on. I jiggled the pins around a little and even held the xaptr down will trying to boot and I still get the blank screen. I'm in a holding pattern now because I cannot boot at all. I ordered the spider programmer because apparently it works on the Xecuter 3 CE. Then I can put flashbios back on and try to install an older Xbios or EvoX M8 and see if that will boot.

I was considering soldering the xaptr pins to the back of the motherboard (like you would when soldering in the regular pins) - is this an option or will I screw something up?

Don't solder the adapter in, just do a regular solder install. If you get the Evox bios to work, but not an X3 bios, then you definitely have problems with pins 13 and 14.

I eventually solved this problem by switching to a soldered mod.

I was suspicious that the xaptr was not getting good connections - or something...even though everything seemed to be fine and the lights would come on and I could load up Flashbios.

So, I bit the bullet, removed the solderless adapter and went to a soldered version. Everything went fine and when I was done I could boot up to the X3. Problem solved!
